That was the first time Haussler had been at the front of a race all season.

germany lost 4 in the crash, Greipel probably could have improved on his 3rd if he had more support.

Mait's like calling Francesco Casagrande or Mauricio Soler crap climbers because of their apalling riding styles and ignoring their summit wins.
Just seen this. I love Soler's technique. He looks like a monkey fucking a beach ball.

4 riders and not 1 sprint.
:]
You mustn't be watching the same race since the 2011 Worlds saw Gossy half a wheel behind Cav.

Was he supposed to be leading out Goss or going for it himself? He did a rubbish job if he was leadout guy.

Oi! I trademarked that in 1998

No, of course the work they did was intended to help Cavendish win, assuming that if it came to a bunch gallop, he would be in with a chance.....
Aye, I think GB's plan was pretty straight forward. Assume Cav would win a bunch sprint, and use the rest of the riders to make sure that happens by drilling it on the front for the length of the race. Awesome display of team strength.
Gerraint Thomas was there in the Renshaw role to look after Cav at the finish, but that didn't quite go to plan.

I've already answered my planned question which was what bike did Cav ride (Specialized). Did all the GB team members ride their regular team bikes or is there a team GB bike as the only others I spotted were Pinarellos (was not looking closely in fairness).
It obviously makes sense to ride the bike you know but that must be a nightmare for the mechanics. -
• #235
You have to ride your trade team bikes which must have been fun for some of the mechanics
-
• #236
Thanks. Lucky they didn't have to wear their regular team kits too. That would have got complicated....

I see Adam Blythe has followed Gilbert to BMC. He doesn't get the attention he would have got a few years ago when being a valued domestique for a successful rider would have been the height of any British rider's ambitions.

Weren't 6 of them from Sky? Will Sky become the de facto British team in future?

David Harmon referred to Team GB as Sky at least twice on Sunday.
-
• #242
harmon is a melt of epic proportion..
he needs a thread just for his [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colemanballs"]Colemanballs[/ame] type commentary. -
• #243
Harmon is by far the best English language cycling commentator. Do you pine for the days of David Duffield?
-
• #244
I know I do
-
• #245
I think the Harmon/Kelly combo is tops. Harmon for his enthusiasm and Kelly for his knowledge.
That other bloke is ok too.

not magnus backstab

granted, david duffield probably topped the list, followed by liggett, sherwen, imlach

This is the shit list, right?

Chris Boardman is excellent. Hugh Porter was funny; things are not looking good for Team GB. Two mins later, it's all working out perfectly for Team GB.
That was just instinct. They were supposed to try and win and then the Pavlovian 'lead out Cav' urge proved too strong.
