They’ve got a fucking actor in to read it, they are seemingly treating it with reverence by reading the whole thing out.

Given the current climate, it’s an astonishingly bad error of judgement.

This is generally a thing that’s progressing in the right way. I had an argument on here a few years ago with some frequent posters who thought Powell’s speech was completely reasonable. Can’t imagine they’d argue the same these days.

BTW turns out @andyp was exactly right in his prediction, Amol Rajan did describe Enoch Powell as a 'great orator'. I found the speech chilling.

Maybe not here, but it's not hard to find plenty of people being vocal about how the speech should have been taken as a warning, what a great intellectual Powell was and how he was completely right etc.

What makes you think this is a thing that is progressing in the right way?
