Repped. That was one of the most amazing and strange things I've ever seen. I loved it.

Monty python already did that.
At the risk of sounding like a grouch... bit of a shame we have to animate these paintings rather than appreciate them for what they are? To use an analogy, imagine if you were a frame builder and someone turned your carefully crafted bike frames into a stylish coffee table by people who didn't get what they were for.

That's a pretty bad analogy.
They're not replacing the painting, the made a short animation, like the Dali/Disney collaboration;
Walt Disney's & Salvador Dali - Destino 2003 (HD 1080p) - YouTube
I think it's awesome, it doesn't mean they don't appreciate them for what they are, who know that the painting show what the artists at the time, have imaging in their head? (like Dali) especially with landscape when everything is always in constant motion.

^this. Cameras distract us from the point of a painting, which is that an idea has been made into a physical thing. A painting is not just an image, it is an object, with the trace of a person's hand. digital animations and photos just can never compete with the remarkable fact of lumps of paint turning into an image, and back again, infront of you.
If they got the point of Carravagio, why would they feel the need to change or add to it? Why not make an animation with their own images?
I take the point that my analogy was crap, though.

It's all part of the same basic need to preserve reality (read Siegfried Krakauer), even if it's a reality of our dreams.
Did some photo etchings last week. Better than the lumps of paint I produce, that's for sure. -

I'm gonna regret writing this, as usually I lose interest in what I wanted to say half way through, but generally don't mind people documenting every random bit of their surroundings. Our memory fail and those little impressions of mood or detailed photos/sketches help jog the memory.
Now, there are roughly two kinds of people - those interested in themselves and those who enjoy the visual stimulae around them, people, objects. Former take endless stream of selfies, stare in the mirror while freelifting, choose self-contained resort holidays, get new stuff every time they redecorate their house. The latter take pictures of the particularly worn out paving slab etc. what I wanted to say? I forgot.
