I’d imagine after the first couple of crashes you’d probably end up a named driver and the car technically being mums or something.
I wonder if car lads even bother to tell insurers if they wreck themselves/eachother if the general public aren’t involved.

Had what I thought was this going on down the road a few weeks ago. Guy turning traffic back from a lane, looking very shifty in the process.
I drive down there the next day to find a row of bollards missing.

It's not just the danger that decreases when speeds are reduced, there is a big reduction in noise and sense of threat on the roads. There was a report during Covid about how the reduction in traffic had a massive positive impact on people's levels of stress, blood pressure, anxiety etc.

There's a 20 limit near me, through an area of park land. Zero enforcement - so it's basically drive as fast as you think you can get away with, and you have the absurd situation of what is supposed to be a park with massive tyre and engine noise and several tons of metal flying through.

In my defence I trashed several cars before I was 20. Two were parked up in a pub carpark where I worked. Got to love a drink driver.

A local councillor has started a change.org petition to extend the average speed checks on the A10 to cover the rest of the borough: https://www.change.org/A10Enfield

Apparently over 4 months, the average speed check cameras on the A10 in Enfield led to 21,000 speeding offences being enforced. What that actually means in terms of penalties/prosecutions I'm not sure but at least they aren't just empty boxes on poles.

I take that road every day I'm in the office and I'm always surprised how many people do above the posted limit given how clear the cameras are.

I just stick the motorbike on cruise control to be on the safe side.
