I'm more worried it's not a track frame.

They're usually made to order. Mine had a set of bosses on the dt.

gatorskin tubs. I'm more worried about the bottle cage bolts.
ed is so fast he has time for as break on the way round
usually he has a hamper on the front with scotch eggs and sausage rolls in too -

As much as I'd hate to see a beautiful old bike stripped of perfectly good parts, I'd rather see asn old frame with modern components if it means it's being ridden and enjoyed.
I have a traditionally made lugged steel frame with all modern components which I think looks fine.
My next road bike will be of a similar nature, something traditionally made (although possibly lugless) but with modern components.
I like the sound of a hamper though...

Its a mix of Campy Record/Chorus 10 speed for the drivetrain. Vintage Chorus seatpost + 3TTT pantographed stem and bars. I have a black brooks swift coming for it, think it would look better without the garish liquigas lime.

That Jackson is gorgous.
Was riding with a group last week who suggested my 70s jackson would look good on wheels like that, didn't believe them, but with a modern 10spd + external BB crankset I can imagine it would.
The climbing and upshifting thing, friction gears on down tubes have been around for half a century now, IS there a solution for the annoying upshift every time you get out of the saddle in anger? At first I thought it was because I was knocking it with my knee, yet even when riding in a stupid position (to make it impossible for knee interference) it still happens.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt.

No they were actually serious, though it was a girl. Was thinking more like 24spoke aero rims like araya ??? No cash though for foreseeable future so no puppy (does it count as puppy?) will likely ever take place.

..it may be frame flex, not much you can do.
-

Thats what I'd thought it was before, as the frame flexs around BB it effectively pulls through some cable from the D/T shifter, rinse & repeat until it shifts. Even ramping up the friction to a rick dick ulous amount does nothing for it.
I guess a full length outer on the cables would do it, ugly, but functional. -

Don't know the exact year of the frame, but all other components are few years later.
Shamals are about to be upgraded with 9/10 speed freehub to work with the ergos.
Ergos: Veloce -> soon Daytona
Everything else is Chorus/Record.Really happy with this. To keep close to what the thread title says, this is quite a mix of old/newer. Personally second generation ergos look very good on an upgrade projects - not so massive as Shimano and much comfortable than 1st generation ergos

I like that a lot, apart from maybe the stem

This is my Guerciotti. Not strictly an old frame since it is a contemporary re-make, but still it's lugged steel and a 1" headset, but it's paired with pretty much full Campy Athena, including a set of carbon levers. I will shortly be adding leather bar tape and a brown leather saddle, but it goesw like the wind and climbs like a mountain goat, at least it would if someone else was riding it
p.s. can someone please explain to this luddite how to actually show the image. In words of no more than 2 syllables

Needs moar seatpost.

have a strange affection for those stems. Nice build. Lever/bar/seatpost setup not my cup of tea, but... that's me

right click on photo as you look at it, select size you want (medium or large), then when it reloads, right click on picture and 'copy image url', then paste into img tags on forum (little button looks like a picture).

am I on ignore or something?
That's not going to slow you down.
And it's far from a purist's track frame.
