  • That link don't work... Cuz I don't have FB.

  • why not just rack up?
laternative to racks and panniers... when you cant use them... but you can?!

I got the 5cm (bulges to 7cm) with internal divider for my surly disc trucker. It's pretty good, but I wouldn't want it any wider as it definitely does bulge when full.

  • makes no sense

  • There's only a small front rack.

  • but he can fit a rack! why would you load up a saddle when you can load the rear wheel? less easy access too. less satble. makes no sense.

  • She.

  • +1 noiser.

Bike packing a touring specific bike?

Seems an odd choice, but whatever suits...

  • It could be because t4ny4 doesn't want two sets of touring equipment for different bikes when she can just have one set. But that's just a guess.

    Save da gramz!

    There are several reasons:

    1. I don't particularly like the pannier aesthetic
    2. I already had a carradice saddlebag, which I use on my fixed gear too
    3. I wanted to make use of the frame space with a frame bag to hold tools etc
    4. I quite like that it's a bit different from the rest

It's actually quite an accessible and practical solution actually and it works for me.
I might try racks and panniers at some point so that I can compare, but I'm quite happy with this setup at the moment.

  • After a few months the Alpkit airlok extra is back in stock with new colours apparently.

  • I doubt they were carrying a DSLR...

  • Guys,

Just referring back to fuel stoves...I saw this a while back, though it seemed quite a neat option to what 'withered preacher' showed...this is the how to make part:

Enjoying this thread btw...must get my small framed Cube done up like the one above!

    Cheers,

  • That one would probably burn longer/use more fuel than mine.
If you're only heating water or instant stuff for one or two it might be overkill.
That's the thing with diy unsealable stoves; you have to either measure your fuel carefully or not mind burning off the excess.

  • ^ Indeed, thats why I like the RUCAS idea so much.

Sure, though I do like the idea of eating a boily meal whilst sipping from the can I'd be making the next stove from...think of it as a 'beer can cycle' not quite the carbon cycle, but it would have its place in classrooms one day...;)

  • Just make it a bit shorter than the vid suggests.

  • For sure yeah!

  • Finally able to work more on my diy bag. It's very rough and any v2 will need some re-thought to make assembly easier...

Zip fitted plus end crude covers, but stitching on them v.messy. The zip side panel now pinned in place to rest of bag with the two short edges stitched so far.

Need to stitch 3 longer panels & reinforce velcro along those then bar trimming the velcro to fit frame without overlap it's as done as this first go will ever be done.

It will be used on inbred but shown on different frame here

Considering sewing machine lessons, it can't be as hard as my ham fisted efforts make it appear...

  • Get a good older (pre 50s) Singer and find some person in a retirement home who knows how to use one. Make arrangements for lessons in exchange for walks or lifts to the shopping or whatever. New friend, new skills.

  • That looks amazing for a firat try if you ask me. Where will its first adventure take it?

  • ^^ cool, quite a few on ebay, you mean hand wind type or electric?

^ thanks, safe commutes to test then a night or two testing bivvy kit, then tdf weekend.
