^^ light use only, but a few years old
^ not sure the mini-d comes with one? The last one I had I gave it away on here...
-
• #603
Mini-d does come with it, other option is using a couple of toe strap and secure it to the main triangle of the frame.
-
• #604
I gave 2 away then I think. Plan b is sorted if it won't stay in plan a.

Until the dual straps are ordered gonna tryout this as a commute carrier on my frankenbike. Doubt the d-lock will survive the journey without dropping out though?
Didn't ride with d-lock there, but the setup was solid no leg rub or wobble which makes this a lighter setup than carradice plus supporting rack.
-
• #606
For that size of bag there would be no rack necessary for a Carra, plus it would be way more accessible than the pictured bag.
-
• #607
It would mean buying a different carra tho, which isn't in the budget
-
• #608
alrighty then
-
• #609
the above didn't work once waterproofs were removed for blizzard, made bungees slack. adjustable straps might have to become "in budget"
-
• #611
That sure isnt cheap..
-
• #612
Will write to Santa about those...

Way I see it, bungees aren't the best idea for attaching things like this.
Bungees are dynamic (they stretch) so they'll make your load dynamic (it'll move). You want your load to be static so use something static to attach it.

• #614
I agree, but that seemed to be what rhb was looking at.
-
• #615
tbh on a trip with a well packed bag that wouldn't need to be used until arrival the bungee would've been fine. I have already ordered the alpkit dual straps to see if they help fix a bag that may need to be accessed mid journey.
It's all good learning for tdf Yorkshire bike packing plan for July.

• #616
What's your plan for that? Going on the days of the actual race or just diy round the route?
-
• #617
Vague plan to go up day before but camp in a forest about 20miles from route to avoid the crowds. Up early to get near Skipton to watch then head South, camp out again (not sure where yet), up early again to get up Cragg Vale before rd closures.
Are you doing the 01fix1 trip?

^ all this assumes I understood the stage plans correctly!
-
• #619
Possibly, depends what's going on in the poloverse that weekend. If there's no polo, I will be around the route somewhere and probably sleeping in a ditch.
Also planning on doing at least one of the routes over 2 days with a bit of wildcamping and several pub stops in between, before or after the tour a bit like: http://www.alastairhumphreys.com/le-tour-de-yorkshire/

^ admirable loyalty to polo there!
The stage trip idea looks ace, be keen to do that.

Looking for a bag that I can strap to my seatpost to carry day kit on a 2 week ride (luckily I don't have to carry tent/overnight kit. This seems like a fair option, teamed up with some compression straps to attach to seatpost/frame.
http://www.ortlieb.co.uk/drybags/ultralight-drybag-compression-straps.htmlAny opinions or better options before I take a punt on this?

You can easily get cheaper one for like a tenner, like the Lifeventure for example.
-
• #623
If they're the same quality as the ones scott put in his saddlebags, those ortleibs are tough as old boots. I dont doubt there might be a cheaper option, but worth a little extra cost for something that wont rip, fall apart, etc particularly when tightening up compression straps.

There has been rumours of polo on the tour route... So both could be possible.

I was floating the idea of sticking a tiny cog on the back of my polo bike and removing the wheel cover for the riding part of the trip just in case...
The D-lock come with frame mount - use that instead.
