  • What did you get, Lockside?

  • one of these

PMd with regards to the bikepack.eu saddle bag.

  • ^^ Topeak Dynapack DX
It's actually not cheaper than the bikepacking.eu stuff, but I work in a bike shop so worked out cheaper

  • PMd with regards to the bikepack.eu saddle bag.

Ollie I pmd last night for you. Let me know if you need it picking up

  • Finally ordered my Revelate Designs frame bag. Now I'm looking for some straps to strap my rucksack to my saddle/post.. Anyone know where to get those for cheap?

  • Just bought compression straps offa ebay to do that same thing, various lengths, a couple of your English pounds per strap. Going to combine that with liberal bungee use.

  • anyone fancy getting some BRP action?

  • bikepacking on the cheap; frame bag was £11, drybag at the rear £8.50. No tent but a sleeping bag and bivvi, tools and clothes. Going minimal but hopefully enough for 9 days in south west France in July

  • Look more than enough for 9 days in France! Are you taking a lots of off bike clothes and shoes?

  • Is it just a drybag strapped to the saddle?

  • yes, alpkit extra, decent kit, with compression straps. My kit is:

    D lock
    sleeping bag
    bivvi bag
    2 baselayer
    1 jersey
    bib shorts
    fixed shorts
    arm warmers
    rain jacket
    swrve hoodie
    tools, spare tubes etc
    oh and sleeping mat
    solar powered charger for iphone
iphone (navigation, photography, entertainment, help with the language)

    thought it was pretty minimal!

  • Bon voyage!

  • Why not just take a cheap cable lock? Fuck lugging a heavy d-lock around for a week.

  • No toilet stuff?

How are those microfiber towels by the way, anyone experience with these? I dont plan on carrying a heavy wet towel around...

  • The one I had was a joke. I'm sure others are better. Mine seemed to be made from nylon?

  • The ones I find are either 100% polyester or a mixture of 70%+ polyester combined with nylon or polyamide. I dont know what to think of them....

  • Solar power charger is gonna be crap, best to have a massive battery pack and/or the Morphie.

It's not a heavy duty D, and the clue is the 'cheap' bit. I'm travelling solo so I'd prefer the added security over saving some weight. I've tried to save weight elsewhere.

  • It's only useful in cities and large town.

The Lufeventure towel are brilliant, try not to get the bigger size, a pain when you're trying to dry it .

  • Most important thing is I don't have my bike nicked, while I'm sleeping or shopping or eating in a cafe, or on the toilet. Not sure where I'll be or for how long, so while I'm sure in rural France nobody steals and everybody loves their mum I'll prefer the added security.

They get the most of the water off but leave you feeling 'not quite dry' which I got sick of so bought a small normal towel from a supermarket. This combo was much better.

  • Just ordered a Lifeventure 62 x 110 cm. Probably too big but me not having enough patience to look for a smaller one on sale justifies it. And I can always cut off a piece :)

@ed the alarm pad lock you mentioned earlier I couldnt find any place that ships to Holland. Had to pay €37 for something similar... Nothing compared to the bike though, so no regrets here.

  • The trick with the travel towels is that they work better when damp. If at first it does not appear to be working, soak it, wring it out and try again.

As hippy say's, it leaves you not quite totally dry but I find them enough to get dressed without your clothes appearing wet.

  • Thanks for the advise!

Those who have ordered Revelate Designs bags from the US, how long did it take for your order to arrive? I placed the order on the 11th of June. It was picked up the 13th and the latest update on the track&trace page is that it was in customs clearance the 26th. I'm probably much too worried. I guess I'm just too excited to fit it...
