  • Yeah, that sounds about right actually. I'm sure someone on here will be planning on getting one. Thread in the classifieds maybe?

  • anyone planning on buying one of these soon http://www.bikepack.eu/shop/uk/

Am hoping to share shipping costs.

I'll go in with you. Only thing is I don't live in London so you'd or I would have to post the bag again.

  • Friday also said he wanted one, which works out as 18 quid postage for three, so 6 quid each. I could then post you yours at your cost. Though I'm guessing it will take a few weeks to be made and arrive so could hold on to it until the Dunwich dynamo and give it to you then?

  • I will need to get one for my friend whom I'm going with to Scotland for off-road touring.

Will need it by next week though.

That would be fine with me. I'm thinking about going for the smaller tri bag or the handlebar bag. I'll be riding the Dynamo so would be good to pick up then, it'll match my saddle bag nicely!

Let me know when your going to order.

  • Awesome spenceey, will sent round pms to everyone to confirm.

I'll do the order today or tomorrow if everyone can get the money together. Not sure it will get delivered in a week though?

  • Managed to liberate a hefty amount of truck tarpaulin from a skip so am going to give making a frame bag a go from that, any suggestions on what type of thread and zips to use?

  • Mike Hall, went round the world on a Planet X CX bike with Revelates Design bag;

Top mark to Mike for breaking the record in just 92 days.

  • Going to have a go at a DIY frame bag for my steamroller. Was thinking of making a saddlebag too, might be easier to knock up a "harness" for an old dry bag instead. Any thoughts?

  • To me the harness idea looked a good way to go for those of us with limited sewing skills

Bikepacking.net had a good thread on one

  • Yeah, I've having a look at that. I think with a couple of small additions, it should be fairly easy to knock something up. I like their bar-bag/tray idea too, might try and knock something like that up too if it feels like I need to balance the weight out front-back a bit more.

Now it's the tough part, deciding which of the Steamrollers to take!

  • You probably don't even need to make a harness, just put the sleeping bag inside a bivvy, roll it up, put it in a dry bag, then grab a handful of decent strap to mount it properly.

Especially easy if you have the Jeff Jones H bar.

  • For the seat pack I think I'd need a harness of some sort.

I was thinking of supporting it mainly underneath and then attaching stuff like a tab for a light and having some thin bungee cord crossed over the top to stuff a jacket on. Going to try and knock up a few sketches this evening and get a rough prototype made on Friday.

  • Good interview with Mike Hall explaining the kit he used/carried during his round the world epic http://road.cc/content/news/59716-mike-halls-round-world-record-kit

  • Mike Hall's inspiring, nice short article

  • Brilliant read that.

Can't believe he did the whole lot on carbon too!

  • The tent look fantastic, and the price isn't too bad.

  • Glad to see I'm not the only one looking in to prices of his tent, that does look great. Less than 700g too!

  • It appeared quite like a bivvy with a zip and inner tube on the entrance, fantastic idea.

  • Yeah, pretty much all his kit has just gone on my wish list.

  • What's the best thing to use for a waterproof liner? Confused looking through point north website.

  • are you making bag liners for kit or bivi bag for sleeping in?

  • Kit for now.

  • I've got a question, might be a very stupid one.

Why don't anyone's frame bags extend below the frame? Or at least between the bottom of the frame and the wheels, I wouldn't go below the bb, but there's still lots of space..

    Thoughts?

  • Because there would be nothing to stop it swinging about, so it would hit chainrings and feet.
