So, I'm trying to work out if I can stretch to a Medium in a 586 that's for sale... I'm currently riding a KG176 which has a TT of 535, ST of 535, HT 120. These are all CTC. The HT is 72º and the ST is 74º.
As far as my shonky spirit level measurements, the stack is 524mm and the reach is 391mm on my current LOOK. Those are both to the centre line of the HT where it intersects the top of the TT. and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
I'm running a 100mm stem and an inline seatpost (though not Gastoned, it's almost as far back as it'll go on the rails).
I'm inclined to think the Small is the way to go, but the Medium might fit. I'd greatly appreciate your input before I drop all the dollah.

My rule of thumb is to err on the small side. Otherwise you might end up with a very short stem or a higher riding position at the front than you would like. If you like your stem and bars 'slammed' low pay attention to the head tube length which is much taller on the medium sized frame.

^^I've now seen this post in three threads, was that really necessary?

No, but the auction ends in two hours and it's a lot of money. Too much money it seems, for a frame that's not perfect.

Neat little stocking-filler. -

Laurent Jalabert, Dauphine Libere time trial, 1996.
Possibly mid transition to the bullhorns, but the position doesn't look too aero.

'magine this with risers and a fixed conversion.
You could look like you're a skidhero riding braekluss without incurring scoblewrath.

• #735
Would be so wrong.
would love if someone did it though purely for the lolz -

Do the 451 361 381 481 all have the same seatpost clamp mechanism?
Will the above clamp a 25mm post in a 231 frame?
Have the above and I'm dubious... -

A little OT, but I'm slightly blown away by how much this went for..http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LOOK-FOURNALES-Super-lightweight-Suspension-fork-Girvin-Linkage-style-1354g-/321277400905?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=wM9SpIfcr%252B1WpXmCwu8dqZwNGpo%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I preferred the rather industrial look of the old ones :( but seeing as I'm half a pair down due to the blade snapping, maybe these will be a little better in the areas that count.

Are the blades easy/cheap to replace?
-
• #741
£27 a pair for the first generation, but I think you need a special tool.
-
• #742
Aye, I have read of a tool's existence. Think you could use your google-fu to find some in stock, tester?

Only if I break one of mine, which is unlikely as I won't be using them for about 4 months :-)
Here's the tool, in stock:
LOOK Keo Blade Replacement Tool: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & OutdoorsThat store seems to carry loads of Look spares, so although they don't list the springs they might be a good place to contact about them. Maybe it even comes with the spares shown in the product shot, which would be nice.

oof. beacoup de moolah.
-
• #745
They're obviously expecting to sell a very small number to shops. If they assumed that everybody would want one at home, I reckon economies of scale would bring the tool price down to <£20
-
• #746
such an expectation would be a tacit admission of the crappiness of the blade mechanism.
-
• #747
Surely there is a shop somewhere in london that has one of these tools.

(in the workshop)

• #749
Inevitably. Probably mosquito. Sourcing the blade is the primary issue.

Oh I see. That's a bummer
I've just fitted new 50mm carbon clinchers, so thought I'd share in here...

I'll probably take some better pictures outside when I get the chance to ride it at some point over Christmas.
