Its not a reflection, as you can see the same mark on the crank in both pics.

to me looks like the protective film that comes with new cranks haven't been removed and just worn out like that... just my guess before he answer to all my questions ;)

ps. We need to organise a LOOK ride this summer. Totally failed last year, and now everyone's in on the skinny-tube-carbon thing there should be some interesting whips on show.
Totally, just not on a Saturday please as that doesn't work for me :)
I have much LOOK love to give! -

The whole 3 length setup is brilliant. As is the dual bcd. I wonder why more manufacturers aren't doing it.
Because cranks with fixed length and no surplus spidery bits are better. The Zed cranks are only that way because it lets Look cover all the bases with fewer moulds, and more importantly with fewer SKUs given that they are only selling them as kits with frames. Let's say you offer the 695 i-pack in 6 sizes, that's 6 SKUs. Now offer it with 3 different crank lengths and 2 different PCDS, that's 6×3×2=36 SKUs.

Hey, new to the forum here. Am in the process of building up this bike with a record crankset and mavic wheels, undecided on the rest of the spec! This thread has kept me entertained for the last two evenings!

Do also check that the c-stem comes with all the gubbins including the rubber part (and spacer, should you need it) as it is needed.
Make sure the frameset comes with the Look manual and do an authenticity check of the serial number with either Look or authorised dealer (Sigma?) - so many counterfeit chinese frame sets about.

Would happily show you my 695 but no longer in Shoreditch. What size is it?

Thanks, it is a large model, I usually use a 55,6cm top tube on my current road bike so I guess the 56cm TT will fit me without using stem spacers.
Sadly the frame is in Italy, so I have to check carefully everything you suggested through emails... The price seems pretty good for a genuine frame, so I'll be very careful, thank you! -

Luckily it was replaced by a 586SL. Less character but faster up hills.

would love to take part in a look ride, selfishly that would give me some motivation to finish my 595 build

I just got some more pictures and the seller answered my questions, it is indeed the worn out protective film.

I have taken the plunge and rather blindly agreed a price for a KG221 which is probably too big and overpriced. Oddly, it has a threadless steerer although the fork looks genuine..does anyone know how this is possible?
-
• #1343
Probably an after market addition of some Look HSC forks.
-
• #1344
I wish..but is not a carbon fork.

• #1345
What year is it?
-
• #1346
Er..not sure of that either, hope to confirm when I collect. Didn't seem so important! But it looks like this..any ideas?

Is that actually a threadless steerer, or just a threaded one with a quill adapter inserted to allow an AHead stem?
-
• #1348
I hadn't considered that. The chap selling it says it's on behalf of his father and doesn't know all the details. But I now know to check that when I collect.

Reckon it's an adapter, this was my 221 -

Could well be then, at least gives more options for a replacement stem, not really a fan of the 3T Mutant, prefer something a little more delicate. @ghostface is that a 60cm frame? Looks very similar. I would normally take a 58cm with traditional geo, this one is 60cm frame, 57cm TT, which is OK, hope it will fit and not look ridiculous.
The whole 3 length setup is brilliant. As is the dual bcd. I wonder why more manufacturers aren't doing it.
