Nice.
Have been thoroughly enjoying re-acquiring, on mp3, some of the stuff I used to DJ back in the day - some of it still rocks my world, even after all these years.
Some choice bits at the harder acidic end of the scale…Bolland gave me one of my most abiding memories from a youth well spent. Went to a night he was playing at The Bomb in Nottingham years ago and he just had this very laconic approach to his work - despite the pulverising sounds filling this tiny, heaving club he looked like he was reading the paper. He had one arm propped over the mixing board like he hadn't a care in the world, quite unlike a dervish like Mills. He just stood there as relaxed as anything with a physical approach which didn't match the energy of the music at all. He was concentrating for sure, but he was unlike any other DJ in character.
Anyway, then he blew an amp. In all my years of going to The Bomb I'd never heard that happen. For maybe half an hour the sound was at about 40% - conversation was possible; he kept looking unconcerned by anything whatsoever. There was a lot of activity from the staff, and the tension rose. Everyone was waiting for the amp to kick back in. He continued with his set, until finally - whoosh. Back it came. Pandemonium. The eye of the storm once more.

Ha, love this reply, and you're quite right. I get the sense it's been a while since you heard the track, but it's a remark you've made in a variety of contexts often enough in lots of clubs to lots more people besides, and you've had a reminder of times gone by.

I want recommendations.
I'm not really into techno or house, but I'm enjoying a Hed Kandi Ibiza 2010 compilation a lot and it's really putting me in the zone for working.
So... what compilations of techno/house are lush and have a great continuity to the mix such that they make the perfect club music and music to work to?
Compilations are preferred for variety, and because I don't know my techno arse from my house elbow.

Seen you've had a guiding hand over in the HMT boss man but I unwaveringly recommend this - it's a mix of house and techno with proper integrity, maybe you'll like it.

OK, So I've listened to them, and I like it.
But... I'm damned if I can hear a big difference between techno, and house, given the few big mixes that I've heard in the past 2 days.
Ignoring the historical differences, if they both sound the same, are they not in the same place and now much the same thing again?

fair proposition.
guess there are some people that would say if it isnt coming out of Detroit it isnt pure techno, but that would be ignoring the fact that euro techno has been as strong for 20 years as the U.S sound. more likely to see the genre techno- house written at present anyway.
anyways if it moves you it works -
