Ah, my osteopath does none of that.
It's all exercises, stretching, core strengthening and stuff. Pretty much no hands on manipulation or anything other than occasional bit of massage.

Anyone have any experience with reoccurring minor dislocations? I popped my elbow out of place a few weeks back doing BJJ, sharp pain, my arm locked out and i couldn't bend it. Fortunately my coach was able to push it back without much force (have seen proper elbow dislocation and it wasn't that). My range of movement was shit for about a week but came good the following week. Went back to training hoping it would be ok and as i was doing drills it popped out again.
My very limited understanding is that i've probably stretched the tendons and these need to recover to stabilise the joint. Just wandering how long something like this might take to heal?
Probably not a bad time to take a break as i have just been diagnosed with Sciatica and trapped nerves in my lower back.

Was at a theme park and did the Ninja Warrior vertical wall.
After one jump I knew I’d had enough, but the chorus of “come on daddy” is very hard to resist.
I heard a pop and, while I could (barely) walk about, I was in a bad way - shock - very pale and felt quite sick.
Anyway, back home now and I’m not going to go to A&E for various reasons. Got it in a compression sock, raised, occasional ice pack. Not much swelling and doesn’t hurt while I’m still.
Any thoughts on a diagnosis? Whatever it is must be some form of hyperextension. As a 41 year old, I’m prepared for this to take on the long side of recovery. FML.

Just go to a&e to get it checked out, my wife fractured her foot slipping on a step and she's been wearing a boot, the fracture has completely healed but she's damaged some ligaments around her toes which might need surgery. The only way to find this out is with an mri (which she gets the results for next week). If it does need surgery it's a problem that could lead to a permanent disability if not corrected.
I'm not trying to scare you but not getting it seen by a doctor is never a good option, it might seem innocuous but you're better off losing a day at a&e to find out.

It would be a confident doctor who would make a diagnosis from "it popped". Go and see a doctor, get examined, and have the right imaging requested if necessary.

I'm confused, which part of your body is in pain? Achilles?
-
• #309
Yeah Achilles.
Feeling better, but gonna go to the hospital today.

Yikes, GWS.
I was going to say as a long term achilles sufferer that don’t underestimate the recovery. Have you got a diagnosis?

Rupture of Achilles tendon. Six weeks in cast ☹️

Oooft, brutal. Thanks kids.

Shit man, that's wank but glad you got seen to. I'm 40 in 4 days and have been recovering from a herniated disc girl the last year. Fucking brutal how your body just seems to just fall to bits.
Age plus kids is horrible for health!

Question - is fixed gear riding any worse for post Achilles injury/issues?
I actually had only just been doing a bit of riding lately and that’s been fixed as I can keep the fixed gear bike in a hallway without causing obstruction to the pram. I think the way I skid-brake is probably stressy to that tendon (right leg and skid uni-dextrously with that leg forward).
Anyway, I’m not going to immediately be doing fixed skids the moment I can get on a bike. Will probably recuperate with just walking and swimming, which I’m completely fine with, and leave the cycling for quite some time - until I at least feel that I can clip in/out without soreness.
Refereed myself at Whipps today - only took 6 hours lol. The surgeon I spoke to was pretty relaxed about it being about 6-8 weeks until I’m back to relative normality. Currently I’m just praying for the first day I can stand unaided, let alone walk. Hopefully that is something like a few weeks 🙏
Next is another appointment to figure out if I need the op or just move onto the boot. Suspect it will be op, though.

Anecdotally I find riding bikes/fixie doesn’t stress the Achilles much at all, unless you’re doing some serious climbs or high watt activity but even then it’s always been negligible compared to running.
It was running that broke me and running that continues to cause relapses, any plyometric or explosive use of the calve.
Fingers crossed for you mate, take it well easy on the recovery as I think some of my issue is scar tissue from repeated injury so patience is everything. -

1 more week in a cast. Then 5 weeks in an orthopaedic boot.

i'm no help, but am subscribing for updates :)
radial head fracture at the weekend, and whilst the x-rays showed no dislocation, if i press my hand against my side in a certain way the joint kind of gives way a centimetre or two, out then in again - trying not to do that, but also curious which bits are actually moving and if/when/how it will resolve.
still in the swollen stage, so can't fully extend the arm 180 (probably at about 150 degrees) nor fold it in/upwards more than approx. 90 degrees :/

My dad (71) is experiencing pain on both index fingers and swelling on base of index fingers . And some pain on inside of thumb, he's getting messed around a bit with drs, suggestions of rheumatoid arthritis, physio suggested a ligament issue but it's not been getting better and he's pretty low due to impact on cycling/life.
Anyone experience of anything similar?

Jebus, that sucks. I hope you don’t have hay fever too because sneezing will be your worst enemy for the next six weeks. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

In case anyone finds my previous comment the diagnosis from hand therapist was/is early stage trigger finger. Exercises/manipulation/massage seem to be making an impact now just need to persuade him to take it a bit easier. Suspect heavy digging etc at allotment more of a contributing factor than bike.

In what way? Nothing my osteo has done makes me think it may leave me crippled.
