  • I was really hoping this would be the 1st of October but some stuff has changed...will leave the poll to run until a week today, the 25th and see what the vote is then.

  • I don't even have one of those. Are they worth investing in?

I dunno, I don't either. my bf has one and it's really useful. they're much cheaper than GPS things... but I haven't got one yet so clearly I don't think it's that amazing.

  • but I haven't got one yet so clearly I don't think it's that amazing.

Ha! Not sure why, but that statement has amused me no end!

i have an old wired one you can have if you want, poots. but wireless is the way to go...

  • Or take me and Gary Garmin on the reccy ...

  • Or take me and Gary Garmin on the reccy ...

That would be grand...will see what final date pans out and hit you up with some dates if that would be ok with you?

I see wireless bike computers aren't that much...may treat myself on payday.

  • Defintely! But my availability is not brilliant (I got carried away by the prospect of 2 rides to Brighton) so don't let me hold you back.

I would definitely do this as well (see above)

  • Sorry to Hijack Myself and two other Lovely ladies including Amy from Cyclodelic are riding to Paris from the 15th September over 3 days. On the first day we will be riding from London to Newhaven if anyone would like to join this leg, who is not working on a weekday that is, let us know!

  • In for 1st October! I also haz Gary Garmin and mostly know the route from last year.
I have done no miles in the past 2 months, so could do with something to aim for.

  • I am riding London to Brighton on Sunday (21st) for the first time. Going with a small group from our local community forum. Pace will be easy and leaving no-one behind. It is a mixed group but if anyone wants a longer jaunt tomorrow, you are welcome to join us. Plan is to leave from Dulwich at 9.15 and then catch the train back mid-afternoon.

Should be up for a Ladies Ride - I'd love to put faces to some of these names - just depends on the weekend.

I have a wired computer, and it's great! I'd definitely recommend getting one (wired/wireless) but I'd say a Garmin would be fantastic as well. that's what I want next.

As for recce-ing, when we recced the London to Windsor route, L&W had printed out OS maps with the planed route on them. We stopped along the way to make notes about sketchy turns/roundabouts/meet-up places/shops/toilets/anything else we thought people should be aware of or that would help navigate without needing to pull out a map while on the actual ride.

  • Really nice run to Brighton today although took a lot longer than we expected. We did have a couple of bods on MTBs that were a bit slower up the hills - and a puncture to fix - but didn't get down there until about 3.30. But we did all make it up Ditchling so that felt good to achieve.

  • Well done!
just thought I'd post up details of the Paris ride

Bah...would be up for this but need to be back in London for about 6pm that day.

Am thinking of doing my recce for this on either Thurs 8th or Friday 9th - would be ace to have some company if possible, but fully aware it's a work day for most.

And ooh...I have spok card ideas...is anyone handy/happy to volunteer to get the ideas in my head onto laminated paper?

  • Cool glad you're up for it! May be able to help on the spoke card front :)

  • My geography is appalling so humour me...is London to Newhaven route similar to London to Brighton?

What time you setting off...if I can swap some leave around at work, reckon I'll deffo be up for this.

  • I haz laminator.

  • Right...the results are in and it's going to be Saturday October 1st! Whoop!
