Cheers. I got it off the beach. Found the flue on the street. Smokes a bit, but toasty warm in winter.
Here's the exterior (with ercol chairs and once again with missus' ride - yeah, I know - you can't see the chainset...)

Mortice and tennon-tastic. Especially with tapered splayed legs locking it together.

Ha! not exactly the conversation I was expecting on here, but all the better for it.

Superb stuff but it's a bit pricey - I got it cheap from a community paint place for a quid for just less than 5 litres.
Ebony finish. Did two coats - rubbed with a rag between coats while tacky to give it a more matt finish.
The water-based stuff is great for interior furniture but it's a bit plastic-y. Soaks into the timber mind, even if it's already varnished. Not sure how, but it's a better finish than you might imagine.

Johnstone's Quick dry opaque wood finish in Ebony. The spirit based not water.
Two coats is plenty, rubbed with a rag while still tacky to take the sheen off it.Fantastic stuff, but can be pricey. I got 5litres for a quid in the local charity shop.

I am looking for a CAD technician, to build fairly straight-forward 3D modeling. Full-time, loads of work and quite reasonable pay. If anyone is interested, contact me, via PM or my number in the phone numbers thread.

I can build you a shed out of shit I find on the street. But that's about it.
Hope this consoles you: -

think it might be the aviary at London Zoo.
In fact, yes it is. designed by Earl of Snowdon, Frank Newby, Cedric Priceaccording to this link:

Humprey Spender - took part in Mass Observation project as a photographer viewing everyday life in Bolton. Hated the intrusiveness and eventually gave up to paint instead. i love this painting.

Not my taste, it's trying way too hard to be something that it isn't.
It somehow reminds me of this building.

Yep. Indulgent architecty wank IMHO. Designed to be photographed empty rather than lived in. Narcissistic architecture.
Unhappy hipster.

http://angelfloresjr.multiply.com/journal/item/6889I hate that aviary, it's too small for the birds to fly in. a low point in my life was watching a pigeon land on the outside of the cage while a vulture looked on longingly unable to stretch it's wings

Great analysis - but the people in the photo are trapped, too. It's a clostrophobic image and that's what appealed to me about it - the image rather than the structure (though I've nothing against it).
