  • Is the owner a stone mason?! I would..

  • I’ve still got the Togo bug, 3 seater, corner, single seat. For those who own one what sorta money do you think that’s worth on the 2nd market?

  • Thought I’d got a bargain Togo on eBay earlier today before I realised it was a kids size one 😂

  • I was able to get 20% off mine and it was a custom order. I would probably be able to sell it for 80-90% of that depending how wrecked it gets in my daughters playroom

  • Think some daft bastard paid the money the guy wanted for the sofa I was wanting to buy.

  • Are there any double sofa beds that work as a sofa and a bed and look good at the same time? Having a hard time finding anything

  • This by E9 Design is pretty cool.

  • I just bought a (second-hand) Ligne Roset Multy, off the back of a recommendation on here.

Good quality mattress, comfy enough as a sofa, and critically the unfolded bed width is a full 160cm, instead of the usual ~140cm, so easily sleeps two full size humans.

  • This is by far and a way the best of these things I've seen. Thanks for sharing.

  • World Architecture festival 2024 shortlist in pics.

Half are in China and one of the shortlist is for a pet crematorium.

  • I need to buy some carpet for a bedroom. No idea where to start looking. Any suggestions welcome please. Not even really sure what I'm looking for. Dark grey walls and dark wood furniture.

  • Wall to wall or area or both?

  • My method, recently utilised:

I don’t really care, it’s carpet. I want it to be good but cheap.
    Neutral colour.
Measure room, then search eBay and the internet generally for offcuts / end of roll big enough.
NB rolls are either 5m wide or 4m, if your room is more than 4m in either dimension, a 5m wide carpet is likely to be cheaper, but do the maths.
Find an independent one man band local carpet fitter to do it, and in my case let him supply underlay.

My carpet was 100% wool* and £15 psqm, reduced from £40psqm. Underlay was £6psqm. You can buy underlay cheaper if you get it online too, but I ran out of time. Fitting varies on where you are, mine was something like £150 inc the underlay, I think I could have got the fitting cheaper too.

  • *forgot my footnote. You might specifically want wool or you might specifically not. Wool is less shiny and looks/feels nicer to me. It’s harder to clean though. Synthetic you can get bike oil out of by rubbing hard with wd40 🤗

  • How do modern wool carpets deal with risk of moths? Some kind of impregnation with repellent? Does it eventually wear out?

  • Worth noting a bedroom is a fairly low traffic area, so you dont necessarily need a premium carpet. The elements that make them feel nice underfoot relate to other factors. Although if it's only one bedroom then it doesn't matter that much.

One thing I would say is to get the best underlay you can. We cheaped out which was a big mistake. You want that stuff that looks like it was designed for mental patients in the GDR.

  • The chap that does our carpets will talk about underlay for hours. I mean hours! It’s all about the deflection and rebound, not about the thickness. I’ll admit I switched off after 2mins, but the stuff he used hasn’t lost its cush in 5 years.
My advice is find a fitter first and tell them what you are after. We got the same carpet with good underlay fitted for the same price as just the carpet from the same carpet supplier he used.

  • Yes to impregnating with repellent, and I fucking hope not to eventually wearing out!

  • Looking for some pendant lights for a kitchen. Set of 3. Ideally some neutral toned natural ish materials like trevertine or marble or some ceramic or something. Shapes with curves rather than angles.

    like this for example

    Any other inspirations?

  • Original BTC may be worth a look

  • Core by Terence Woodgate are nice (I have a few)

  • Any good recommendations for nice wall lights, the up and down glow type. Not the ceramic shell horrors, but a nice mid century vibe? Thanks

  • I’ve just cleaned and “feed” the sofas. They still need a polish once they’re dry. Despite my misgivings Leather Honey seems ok.
