I find it pretty bleak... was there a restriction on the ceiling height?
That car pool also seems like a terrible way to start/end your day?

Depends on whether you're having fun, I suppose.

Another entrant that responds to its environment is Penang, Malaysia’s Factory in the Forest, a medical manufacturing facility owned by US medical firm, Paramit. The 162,000sq ft building incorporates gardens and waterfalls and uses canopies of trees to create shade, all of which help to cool the space.

Some pretty cool but poorly photographed buildings in there, or maybe it's just the resolution that a few of them were uploaded at.

I didn't know about this, quite an extraordinary story:
For ease of reference, here's the old Poggioreale:
Just another one of the many examples that imposing large designs on cities is a bad idea.

Hi
Does somebody on here know a manufacturer of very neat looking round roof lights?
I need them to be very well vented or opening without some hideous motor. -

These guys are friends on mine and the work I’ve seen so far is really good. Ply in 3 wood finishes or any Formica colour the company makes. They don’t do custom fits but if you know what you want via Ikeas own online 3D design setup, they look great.

Having walked around there a little while back, I think most of the King's Cross rail lands 're-'development is rather a fail.

My parents kitchen/dining room:
Mum asks for acoustic regulation. Too harsh noise reflection.
Sound absorbing boeads between the beams are not an option.
Any suggestions?I have suggested more paintings and carpets.

Why no panels? Acoustic rockwool panels on the ceiling or walls are basically the only real option (short of filling the room with soft furnishings and people). As you’re not worrying about controlling bass, you can get away with the thinner panels and these days there are less industrial looking options.
You could start with a large thick rug (maybe backed with underlay too) but hard parallel surfaces are always going to have this issue.

Thin rockfon panels is the absolutely most sensible solution, but dad has spend insane amounts of time and effort to get the ceiling as high as possible and he claims not to be bothered with the bad acoustics. I will still try to persuade him, but we are looking for low hanging fruits atm.

Bizarre, why get the ceiling so high if he then wants to suspend low-hanging fruit from it? :)
