You'd be welcome to, it can be very hard to estimate how long these rides take to get to a given point though. If you PM me your mobile number I could send you a text or two to keep you updated?

Am looking forward to this heaps and taking my SHINY NEW BIKE out for it's first trip.
Although the sensible thing for a long ride is to stick with a bike I know I'm comfortable on over long distances eh? Ah, fuck it...new bike! Where does sensible come into it?
-
• #65
I'm really looking forward to it, can't wait to take my fixie skidder on a long distance again.
poots, keep riding your new bike, try and ride as much as possible, or even go to a reputable bicycle shop and ask them to fit you properly on the road bike to minimised discomfort.
I took my new bike to a 600km ride without any proper fitting done, let just says it's sheer luck that it wasn't as bad as I though it would be (stem's a bit long).
also it's not a sportif, just a relaxing ride to the countryside.
Looking forward to meeting you this Saturday.

Im trying to convince a girl who is training for London 2 Paris but is scared you guys will leave her on her own, lost in the wilderness. I might not make it. Though i might. Depends on a lot of things.
Whos willing to talk to her? And look after her? -
• #68
Bloody hell, just tell her we're not treating it like a race, and the 77 miles is pretty much at a normal pace, i.e. her usual commute speed.
Just tell her we all won't leave her alone, we're not that kind of people (and yes I'll be willing to look after her if necessary).

Cheers for the informative AND encouraging words Ed! Looking forward to putting a face to the name too : )

Whos willing to talk to her? And look after her?Tell her to come! I'm pretty slow but have never been left behind on forum rides, even when I foolishly attempted a TNRC on my Plug...who am I kidding, I'd have sucked at TNRC on any bike...that aside, my point I'm labouring somewhat is that on a decent sized, fairly sociable ride, no one is going to get left behind. No one gets ditched on any ride tbh, do they, unless they want to bail?
This place is friendly and nicer than it'd like to make out ; ) Plenty of people will keep her company/talk to her and I'm sure she doesn't need babysitting/looking after.
Tell her to come and look out for the bird on the shiny bike.

What bike did you get?

Oh, i know all this Ed... I just wanted to put it out there so that she can read it for herself.

This one...http://www.lfgss.com/thread70852.html or at least it'll be mine when I furnish tsw76 with lolly on Friday.

Iain tell her I'm aiming for a 20mph average. If I can't drop her at that pace, I'll push her into a hedge.

I jest, of course.
Out, doing Chester to London via Welsh coast and Snowdonia instead (not in one day of course). Shame could'nt fit both in as this looks an ace ride. Have fun y'all.
