• damn karta. good luck getting them back! and like the others said, any bigger pics?

  • oh oh this is terrible. I went into the library and met Karta on Wednesday- totally awesome place, man and bikes- so sorry dude.
    Eyes well and truly peeled.

  • Hi All
Been a very strange week indeed. The amount of people I had sympathy and support from, even strangers on the street, has been very reassuring--and effective in the end, as the thiefs could sense our collective hawk eyes, and decided to contact us to buy them back. Have managed to get a few of the bikes back, pinky and black mini velo still MIA along with many Brooks saddles and much of the fine gear and accessories I designed.

However it is a precedent, they are intimidated by our collective ways, it is time to turn the tide against them. We are chipping all of our bikes and offering the same (for free) to anyone that brings their precious bike down to the bicycle library, bus or ambulance at E8 3RL

In fact we are going to celebrate this Sunday and start our Sunday Swap series, which can happen every Sunday if there are enough of us. Bring bikes and parts to sell and swap, we provide covered stall space, DJ's food and drinks by LuckyChip and coffee Trike by Bean Around Town.

Pass around below blurb if you like:

    SUNDAY SWAP = Bikes+Bits-3rd July 11-7
    @Netil Market 1 WESTGATE ST. E8 3RL
PRIZES FOR 3 BEST BIKES ON SHOW
Bring bike bits to sell/swap, market stalls available
    MUSIC, FOOD, DRINKS every Sunday

Again, thank you everyone, bike theft is no fun for anyone, but we have strength in numbers and strong legs to catch them with... Karta

  • Incredible, Karta.

Well done you for turning a negative into a positive.
    Good work.

  • I like.

But did you actually have to BUY your bikes back?

  • Why didn't you just have them arrested when you met to handover cash?

  • Pretty positive news - well done.

  • I'm sure i saw one of the mini bikes earlier this week but cannot for the life of me remember where. I commented to my mate at the time that it was an odd bike. Didn't know this theft had happened else i'd have followed the fuckwit. Damn - good luck with getting the rest of them back!

  • There was one of these at the top of broadway market yesterday, it was painted a terracotta brown and the tag on it said 'rusty - £700' I was going to get a picture once Id come out of the shop but it had dissapeared

  • Hi All
Indeed we had to buy back without the help of cops, they were not interested and sadly incompetent when it comes to bike theft. The cops have identified the gang from CCTV but seem incapable of doing anything about them. What we are now doing, is offering free tagging of bikes with chips, and also a physical bulletin board for photos of stolen bikes. Although cops cant do much unless you register frame number on www.immobilise.com The more of us that do this the harder it is for them to get away with it. There are still a few bikes missing and lots of parts and clothes/accessories. Most noticeable and valuable is a complete set of red CMWC 2009 Tokyo Crank, Seatpost, saddle and drop bars. Anyone sees these again ,let me know, only 20 sets ever made and only one set in England, albeit MIA.

Thanks again for all the moral support, come in and see actual zombie bikes-back from the dead...
