Furniture people (not sure if here is best of DIY but anyway, let's start here); what to do with this, it's a G Plan drop leaf table and the varnish on top is pretty much gone. It has some oil marks on it too.
Not looking to get it smart, just get a bit of surface protection on it and tidy it up. Any ideas?
Edit: the top is veneer.

If removing the stains scrape clean then oxalic acid wash. Dry, rinse, dry, sand , varnish.
If just refinishing then scrape the old finish off. Sand to key and polyurethane varnish.

Thanks. So scrape first?
I was planning just to sand but maybe that will take long to get the varnish off.

Scraping will probably be quicker and less likely to go through the veneer

Does anyone know of anything similar to the Fritz Hansen 'Avion Goodyear' ceiling pendant?
I'm after something large and 'blobby' to go over a dining table

similar-ish, but less spenny? -

Some similarities with Jasper Morrison's Glo-Ball although maybe not as organic/blobby

Yeah, cheers that's nice - I'd found this one as well but I'm after something large... it's a fairly large room with a tall ceiling

is there any one on here that can do a small upholstery job, I've got a Humanscale chair and the arm rests are trashed, they've got a base plate clips in the arms of the chair that's made from hard plastic, and I've got the original foam.

BEDS.
Has anyone bought a bed from the Natural Bed Company? https://www.naturalbedcompany.co.uk/
They look like lovely beds. We’re looking for someone quite low in oak…

Look expensive and I’m inherently suspicious of brands that name products things like hoxton, Oregon or Bloomsbury

Maybe check out Muji beds for that style. I don't have one but was looking at them and a few people on here have them.

• #1171
Haha!

I have the muji beds - I’m not sure if they still make the ones we have but we bought the first one 6 years ago and the last one 2 years ago when we moved. Would buy again.

Yeah I took a look at MUJI, the range is super limited and they look very basic more-so than IKEA unless I am missing something - maybe they are really well made but hard to determine from their website.
