argh I've got to cancel Thursday's now. Ploughed my face into the ground on my way home yesterday and I think I've cracked a rib. Merde.

oh no!
stop breaking parts of yourself... -
• #1154
That is my 2012 goal.

I would say "Stop mixing cold medicine and booze" only I was merrily popping some of your pills myself, last night.
-

I am a practised booze&meds cyclist; I was just being a fucking idiot frankly. I am not very impressed with myself.

Hope you're healing up Rosie. I haven't forgotten about Afterworkers: The Movie. However the more I think about the practicalities the more I think it will be quite a lot of work.
On the plus side I have found the song I want to use for the soundtrack:
Lana Del Ray vs CAZZETTE - Video Gamez - YouTube
It gets very knarly though from 1.30ish, someone might need to do a wheelie or something ;)
It's very appropriate because you like video games and mountaingoatmatt was the first person to post the original on the forum.
Copyright and stuff could be an issue though, realistically. Ho hum.

Ooh, I will listen when I am not without laptop (again).
I am actually considering an afterworker tomorrow, but on my mtb in the spinniest gear possible. I'm aiming for a 7mph average.

I'll take my 24" for a spin then.

Are you contemplating Thursday this week? I'm looking to break my Afterworker duck.

I may have broken ribs. So, probably.
(I don't think they are broken really; they were making some disconcerting crunching sounds but I am generally fairly mobile, if in pain, so I think I was whinging about nothing. Will give it a couple of days to make the call re Thursday though.)

Have you had a doctor look at them?
-
• #1163
as long as I can remember - if you break a rib doctor can do nothing, just prescribe you some time at ease and painkillers if it comes to that

I actually went to a&e (against my will); he made me cry by prodding them, then said "yes, they sound a bit cracky. We won't bother xraying though because there's nothing we can do anyway, so just don't do any exercise for six weeks." At which point I would've loled, except I was in tears of agony. Anyway not so bad now so I think I was just being melodramatic.

you're the only person in this world who knows what's best for yourself in this situation.

• #1167

cheers Joe. I have just made use of my spin bike and am feeling MUCH better. Endorphins cure all. also, having much fun commuting on the 69er; it still hurts, but it makes me so happy it frankly doesn't matter.
-
• #1169
What is the 69er? A bike with 69" wheels?
That does sound fun.
-
• #1170
29 on the front, 26 on the back.
-
• #1171
Oh. I sort of hoped it would look more like this:
What is the advantage of said combination?
-
• #1172
Better rolling over obstacles with a 29 on the front but quicker acceleration from the 26 on the back. Plus I'm too short for a proper 29er.

• #1173
off road ride soon rosie? i have singlespeed mtb which needs to be ridden. it is only 50 GI so too spinny for the road.
-
• #1174
Yes! I meant to organise one ages ago but forgot. I am a bit scared of winter off-road afterworkers, I am bad enough at riding off-road in broad daylight. Maybe it's easier if you can't see stuff to be alarmed by though.
