  • right across the street from my new flat. can post some pics thursday if anyone wants.

  • and it opened a few weeks ago

  • I know where you live headandneck

  • So do I. can post some pics thursday if anyone wants.

  • i'm visiting this weekend, i've decided...
and according to their website, they seem to be manufacturing their own custom bike - 'Road Rage'?
    all very intriguing...

  • I was passing about 3 weeks ago and went in to have a chat with the owner. Very nice bloke, helpful, friendly and seemed knowledgeable. There wasn't an awful lot there to gawp at but I put this down to the fact they'd more or less just opened up.

  • I keep seeing a guy on a Paul's custom cycle on Battersea rise. lovely beast...

    (the bike that is)

  • one goes queens road peckham -> new cross -> loampit vale too...

  • Is that the black one with the red lettering? If so, the noise from the drivetrain is the loudest I've ever heard. Looks good, sounds interesting....a freewheel that sounds like a mini-machinegun.

  • Noisy pawls are all the rage Ashe, do keep up dear.

I spoke to Paul two years ago as I kept seeing him on my commute. Strangely, he said that he lived in forest hill, but came through Brockley to go west, to avoid a hill or something. This, coming from JD's harder-looking nemesis, who rides pretty damn strong!

    Lulz. :)

yep, black and red with red ubs and a red chequerboard effect

  • Popped in today for a nose and a chat. Said his main business was custom bikes, which will be custom except for making frames himself, i.e. paint and components. Not sure how he does his paint jobs but the few examples he had in the shop seemed pretty decent. The singlespeed of his with the chequerboard seat tube, a vintage track bike painted the same way and a kids running bike which looked cool.

    He also stocks these
    http://www.formebikes.co.uk/
which I'd never heard of before but looked fairly decent. Plus all the usual bike shop kids bikes and shoppers etc.

  • Is that the mega compact geometry frame?

  • Not so mega when you see it in the flesh, he's quite short.

  • The man is a titan. He owns Camberwell new road.

  • Ah but back in the day, Loampit Vale was mine.

  • The man is a titan. He owns Camberwell new road.

I'll admit, that everytime I've seen this guy, he's always had the hammer down. Respect.

  • Ah made it at last, Londons only worthwhile forum. Good afternoon London thanks for all the comments about my new shop in Peckham. Thought i'd let you know alls going well gradually finding our feet and filling shop as i go. Thanks for the hammer down comment but wanted to ask is there any other way to ride? Re the shop any questions feel free to pop by any time but basicly my main business is not customising as was sugested but giving people the best customer service and hoest prices no doubling up on a rear puncture because its a sturmey forinstants. Lots of repairs and servicing and soon into the fixie market. But anything you guys need feel free to ask.

  • Got a rough price and turnaround time to ream a seatpost and clean bottom bracket threads of an old steel frame?
    (bike will come stripped)
    Cheers

  • Hi real honest with you, no tools at the moment to do this, started on real tight budget less than 10% of most so having to invest in specialist tools as and when budget allows.

  • Hello good people of Peckham,
Like most of you Im a fellow cyclist, I also live around the Corner from "road rage" Paul's custom cycles.
I have used the shop a few times in the last month or so, His a complete gentlemen very helpful polite and unlike other people in the two wheel trade knows what he his talking about.
He fixed up one of my bikes with some "Major Taylor" handle Bars. and realigned my Brakes. This machine now transports me to east London and back four times a week, no bad back with great stoping power.
    Regarding owning A Pashley bike.
Whats the big deal. I for one own a few bikes. Any problems ill be off to Paul's whether my Hybrid, Road, Fixed or Guv'nor needs work.
This part of Peckham needs a good business. The fact its a Bike shop all well and Good!
    regards to one and all!
    Tony

  • Popped in for a skewer-y thing, which he had right there unlike other shops I tried on the way. had a nice chat too. would recommend :)
