  • In 1958, this frame was specially built for Tommy Crowther, owner of Mercian Cycles, Derby. A year later it was purchased by its present owner, who was a well-known time-trialist and is now unable to cycle due to illness.
He has asked me to sell this complete machine, which is one of the finest road-path frames I have encountered. The details are as follows:
22 1/2 seat tube and top tube
Reynolds 531 with very finely hand-cut lugs, which were specially made for this frame only.
Wheels are Mavic 32/40's on large flange Campag track hubs, currently with 22 sprocket .
Steel GB Titan Maes stem and GB aluminium bars 16" OS/OS. GB front brake.
Brooks Pro saddle with the rare simple badge embossed on Campag 2 bolt seatpin
TA 51 chainring on Stronglight Dural Forge cranks
Bluemels Club Special mudguards. The bike is ready to ride away.

  • shit me thats nice, good luck!

  • Lovely, nice bit of History and well worth the money don't be taking silly offers for the old boy..

  • That is a sweet piece of history.

  • Lovely just wish it was 23.5"

  • Found a mint Tom Crowther track at a local initiative to which people donate old bikes, they get fixed up, then sold on for £20-30. For a glorious moment I thought they might not have known what they had on their hands. Unfortunately they did. Beautiful bike. Good luck with the sale.

  • Beautiful and well worth the money.

  • I think thats cheap for what it is

  • Beautiful!

  • I think that is lovely..........that should be priced higher than that, In my opinion.

Where are you going to find another??

  • Loving the fruit pastels on the seat tube!

  • lordy.

  • I'm just hoping it isn't bought to break up and sell as parts.
    M

  • I think i have to take this piece of beauty. I have to pay the tribute to this beautiful country, that gave me the chance to fall in love with cycling. and dont worry it wont be taken apart.

Dibs (checking the pictures over the phone, hopefully it looks better on a bigger screen, but the comments are good enough to make me want this!)

  • great bike - good luck

  • Pasquale don't change your mind, don't haggle, just buy it. It's probably the best path ever sold on here.

  • Second dibs...

  • @Malrees2 - we would lynch anyone that broke this bike up, don't worry. I would rather buy it than let that happen. MetroCammel is a worthy recipient, I'm sure.

    @furiouspiles
No can do. I have the best path bike I could ever want already. I am trying to sort out my duell road bike, 9speed athena group being picked up today, just need bars, spokes, tyres, cables & tape.

  • ^^and so is TS, if Metro backs out.

  • That's a great looking bike there. It's not often that something like this comes up for sale on here.

  • Not often? It's Tommy Crowther's own Path bike. That's as good as it gets.

  • Dear lord - I've just had a sex wee

    Dibs stem..........................
