  • jebus.^ that's a close clearance. Crashed?

  • Nope.. dont think so. 700 front lopro

  • What a lovely tarck frame. I wonder who it eventually sold to...

  • I bought a ghibli from the original owner ^ and a friend of mine bought that Duell,
should've bought it myself as he sold it a week later...

  • My 59cm Duell: model Pursuit. NOS frame.

A pure criterium machine. This means it has to deal with 400x tight cornering and sprinting out of the corner per race and this everything on often far from perfect innercity road surfaces. The frame is build using Columbus Cromor tubing. Not light like SL, but a logical choice considering the use and if you want to do longer with the frame than one season.

Again the painter couldn't resist putting some serious effort in the paintscheme.

En profil it looks solid blue >>

  • wow stunning frameset mel! ... let me know if you want to get rid of it :D

  • there is a one with the same color scheme on mp.

  • Poorly advertised, ad makes no mention of Duell but it clearly is one. Not my size though.

  • I very well remember seeing an ueberlush TSX-2000 up. In same paint as mine, except for chromed fork and tail. A full Record bike. No cheapie. No way near the league of the bikes in post 33 and 34.

  • Btw tiny bit bummer the pic and text of the bike in post 34 don't unveil much. It is mid 90s and has an interesting paint, but more you won't learn. Seller specified the bike as aluminium and 15 euro as starting bid. Doubt whether he is the 1st and original owner.

  • Still, for that price I definitely would have been interested if it was my size.
Zieleman do you know whether the rumours about Jan van Dalen are true? Word is that he is terribly cranky and frankly a bit of an a**hole... :/

  • Me too of course. I think it is 57 or 58.

I don't know whether the rumours are true. Quirky traits of a builder certainly add the character of a bike, but this would be one of the least pleasant if true. Still only rumours however. Frankly, I haven't heard it before.

  • Mid 80s. 531 Professional tubing >>>

  • look what I found... worrying!

There's a portrait of him on the Duell site that somehow doesn't dispell this: He looks a bit of a knob, sort of reminds me the portrait if that yankee plastic scotsman Don Walker.

  • got mine back on the road...just need to sort out a quill stem and it's all done...

    thought i'd try nostalgic B&W.

  • Some traditional Photoshop.

  • ^^
    iPhone Hipstamatic !!!!!!

  • Yes.

    :-/

  • @ Skully
You do not look very harmed in the pic. Lucky you. Looks like a bad failure. A failure Duell can't do much about. Maybe the tubing manufacturer, but did you use the bike where it was intended for?

That wasn't me, just a picture I found on this here forum.

    My Duell's fine (so far!).

  • I saw a nice Duell pursuit lo pro bike today. it looked nicely loved and used. should have taken a photo.
did anyone here get that duell slx on the bay for cheap?

  • Hi guys
just bought a used 57CM Duell Palermo frame. Never heard of them before but saw it on ebay as a fixie. The guy selling was brilliant (Terry of Stallion Cycles in Kent showing three Duells earlier in this forum) and he stripped it for me. So i went down to Sheppy in a storm last sunday and ended up doing 92 miles instead of 52 just to get there and i aint listening to a Nokia app sat nav again! It's at the powder coaters now although to be honest it will not emulate some of the frames shown here. Have not been able source the decals as Duell no longer use them (sprayed on) so spent 6 hours yesterday copying one of them using Coral Draw - labour of love or what?
I only needed the Duell frame as i went over the handlebars in sort of slow-mo having hit a badly placed bollard which kinked my Renalds 531 frame. I'm polishing up all the aluminium bits at school ready for re-assembly in about a week.

The attention to detail on Duell frames is fantastic so when it's done, i'll post some pics.

Does anyone know what year roughly the Palermo was made? It has brazed gear shifting lugs and eyelets for brake/gear shift option.
Also, any idea where i can get the decals done in England?
Now i'm off for a run until i get my bike back!!
    Still recovering from my run!!!!!!!!!
    cheers
    pat

  • Yeah it was good to meet you Pat and I'm really pleased that the Duell is going to be reborn as a geared bike.

Here is a before shot of the frame:
