If you really want the Lego studs to work, you could always epoxy some genuine bricks to the printed stand. Many of the dimension / tolerance issues arise from the slight interference fit necessary for removable parts - it looks as though this would only be required where the figures fit the stand?

epoxy
I think you mean kraggle.

Yes, only uses the studs for the minifigures, taking your idea a step further I wonder if I could design a small lips which would hold a 2x2 lego plate, avoiding the need for glue.

Has anyone got an ender 3 silent board knocking about that they'd like to sell?
-
• #306
Not bad for a first test print!

Cool! Which one did you go with in the end?

Oh nice! How much space does it take up IRL? Been keen to buy it since i posted that link but can't figure out where I'll put it!
3d printing noob question - will something like the FLSUN Q5 be good enough to print custom light/mudguard brackets?

Excellent. Sorry, realise I never replied to your email about ease of setting up but trust it was straightforward enough.
You might've read stuff about using a piece of paper to set the gap between nozzle and bed. I used that method for a while but found it vauge in terms of how thick or resistant to movement the paper should be. Instead, I found it much easier to shine a bright light from behind the nozzle and simply eyeball it as close as possible.
If you have any issues with print bed adhesion (or rather lack of), ScotchBlue masking tape seems to help. I've seen there are specific products which claim to as well, but haven't tried any myself.
Which slicer are you using?

Its about 30cm by 40cm, but significantly higher than other printers, as the filament sits on top.

No problems, was amazed how easy it was to set up!
Yes, used the paper approach aligned with some eyeballing, seems to have worked so far.
so far things are adhering well, but only doing relatively simple prints, nothing with supports needed yet.
It is mesmerising to watch it work...

Not tried it, but quite tempted.

Ah yes, the stock one does seem a little flimsy.
Currently using Cura as my slicer. I know pretty much nothing about 3D modelling so going to see if there are some tutorials I can use to learn something like OpenSCAD

Was £50 off on Amazon so £170 including a 340m roll of black PLA.
Running a test print now.

Nice! Welcome to LFGSS-FLSUN.

• #317
Ha, welcome indeed!
I have just bought a magnetic bed for mine, was having a few issues with prints sticking too much to the bed, so a removable bed for £25 or so seemed a sensible thing to try.
Mine has been running pretty much full time since I got it, and not had any major failures at all yet.
Really need to work out how to do 3D modelling now though.

Anyone can help me out to 3D print an oversize Brompton sleeve?
-
• #319
You have a file to print from?

Loving printing random things at the moment. Last way being plant pots and 3D letters of my company name. Also printed stands for my Lego cars.

Unfortunately not, will need help scanning or someone with a experience with this kind of mod. Will pay for time and effort accordingly.
-
• #322
Have you checked Thingiverse? Lots of Brompton stuff on there, might be a file that could be modified at least.
-
• #323
Have you been printing non-stop since you got it?
Those pots look particularly nice
-
• #324
Pretty much! Helped by the fact that a delta printer is a bit faster, I have used 1kg of filament...
Really happy with the pots, simple design, I just had to fiddle with the dimensions to match the pots.

If you havent got this sorted by the 14th, drop me a PM and Im happy to help (out of town until then)
Thanks, this bit did sorry me slightly with the Lego stands. I guess that is why the main aspect of the stand doesn’t rely on the studs. I’m not that worried about the studs for the mini figures to stand on, as that is very much secondary purpose.
