Turned up today, great service and a great part. I didnt pay for the dye as they're not visable anyway, but they did it as a freebee. Also this little cage them printed to protect the prints in shipping was cool

Has anyone here tried printing a Garmin/Wahoo mount?
I've found a company up north that prints using 100% recycled Carbon PETG, I thought it would be cool to produce some bike accessories using only recycled materials but know nothing about 3D printing!

I've modified @wot 's adapter to hang a dynamo light from his Garmin out front mount to take my battery powered light. Don't have a printer myself but should be printed on a friend's Prusa i3 somewhere next week. Might get sick of having to do up a bolt to fix it to the bike, but there's an outlet in the space I store the bike so I can charge the light without removing it.

Hi,
is there anyone able to work out a 3D printed sort-of quick-release attachment for the Aldi rear cycle camera (maxtek)?
Actually, the strap is becoming loose and camera is turning everywhere...I always wanted a 3D attachment bolt on the seat post but with a quick-mount on the camera body (so no problem when I need to remove while shopping etc).Is any gentlemen/milady able to help me?
Thanks

Wouldn’t it be easier to buy a cheap rear light with quick release, butcher it a little and then use sugru to attach the quick release part of the light to your camera?

Nice hint man!!

I have CAD for a Garmin mount and the quarter turn adaptors too.
The first one I had FDM 3D printed did fatigue with the weight of the Garmin on it eventually and broke.
Depending on the type of printer you're using you'd need to orient the build in a certain way to stop that but it should work.

I fancy a saddle mounted dynamo light.
I want to buy one of these
https://www.shapeways.com/product/Q8Q62T8JX/specialized-swat-schmidt-son-adapter?optionId=78502392&li=marketplaceI don't want to pay £7.30 postage or indeed £32.60 total
Anyone have a printer and willing to knock one up?

Not sure if you are still looking for this but I could print you one of these off and then you could whip the Garmin mount off and sort a way of fixing the light on instead?

edit: or if somebody who is decent at cad can pop the bit you need on, would be happy to print for you

Still looking and thank you for offering!
I'd like the straight up mount without a bodge or adapter ideally. I may just bend and drill a bit of metal to use instead though -

I'll have a play with it this evening, how hard could it be...
£25 for what is likely not even 50p worth of material seems ridiculous -

Yes! Got one now although I haven’t fitted it yet shamefully.
Looks good though and I appreciate the effort -

So what are the current ‘cheap’ amazon specials for 3D printers? I want to print a gnome army.

FDM or SLA? Figurine people tend to prefer SLA.
Anycybic are outstanding value for both. Look at the Photon.
If you buy any anycubic it'll be easy to assemble and it will work unlike the majority of cheap kits.

FDM or SLA?
Blank expression.
Anycubic
Thanks will look it up.
The gnome army is partly a joke. Guy I know has a Creality or some such. I just don’t want to buy a machine that wastes more than it makes.
Ideally I’ll make small parts and adapters for the bike. For example the satnav/phone holder for the motorbike.
I’d be sharing it with mum, apparently resin isn’t suitable for her. Filament rather than resin, any difference in smell/nose pollution?

Sounds like FDM is your thing then.
FDM is good for larger more durable parts like brackets, cases etc. SLA is for delicate detailed small parts.
FDM/filament is odourless if you stick to PLA and PETG. ABS smells and is tough to print on cheap printers anyway.
Loads of introductions to 3d printing available that explain the pros and cons of FDM/SLA and filament choices.
Look at the Anycubic Mega. I've got a mega S. I've modded it a fair bit but it was very capable out of the box.

Sounds great thanks a lot. What are mods worth considering?
-
• #173
FLSUN Q5 has exceeded my expectations. Really happy with it.
-
• #174
Quieter stepper drivers, quieter cooling fans and Marlin firmware (used with octoprint on a Pi4)
I think the newer Mega models come with quieter bits compared to mine anyway.
If you Google Anycubic Mega mods there's a bunch of info out there.

FLSUN Q5
Ive heard good things about the FLSUN too. Very similar to the Anycubic Kossel in terms of value and results.
3D printing is a whole new world to me... Lots to learn! Thanks for the tip.
