I'm working in London on Wednesday on Great Marlborough Street, can take helmet, lock, pads if people can collect?
Yeah, I don't mind picking everything up, make it easier for you. I'll PM you my number.
Whose are the pads?
-
• #278
No idea, unless someone claims them I'll just bring the helmet and lock.
-
• #279
That would be awesome! John, I'll be working late on Wednesday, could you grab the lock and either Mark or I will grab it off you one evening?
-

Yep, no problems

Cambridge, and everyone who went,
Really sorry about not turning up, and sorting out the software, etc, I said ages ago on here that I'd do it, and with shit all kicking off at work, and culminating in me quitting my job, my head was elsewhere, and I totally forgot. The software challonge [http://challonge.com/] is easy to find and set up, anyone could have done it, it takes 20 mins to register and create swiss rounds. Anyway, sorry you didn't know I wasn't going to make it, and shame I missed it too.
You don't owe anyone an apology. A major part of hosting is having contingency plans in place. No event should ever rest on any one person's shoulders.

agreed. you shouldn't be apologising gabes. i apologise for not thinking forward or for having a back up sorted. lessons have been learnt the hard way. sorry guys, next time we do a tournament I will have format things in place better so that all you guys have to do is worry about playing. the challonge software looks remarkably easy to use and I've set cambridge up on it, onwards and upwards.

Thanks to everyone for coming and especially John H for helping out with the laptop/scoreboard duties. Apologies for it all being very chaotic and not in a SR format , unfortunately circumstances made everything far from ideal . Poor or lack of preparation has no excuse and i accept a lot of everyones criticism as being totally valid. Hopefully we will learn from these mistakes .
I am also guilty of playing in two teams . Being old and dimwitted i hope you will forgive me this indulgence ( i did pay 2 registrations ). Again apologies .
Well played Spring Break. Well played Gully-Robber ,Team Cream are crying into their cornflakes. -

I think you're absolutely right. We haven't had another polo session since the weekend so I can only speak for myself but I think that is one of the main things to take away from this. The other being a much clearer idea of the maximum number of teams for a single court on a one day tournament (especially one held on a Sunday).
Thanks for everyone's feedback both positive and not so positive (it's still constructive) – hopefully we'll have a big chat about it tonight and over the course of the week and take it all on board for next time...
