Thanks to everyone for making the trip to the People's Republic of South Yorkshire. Thanks also for your support of the have a go sessions - loans of bikes, balls and heckling. I think you made the original Phil's Stag Do (no offence Emmet) feel very special. Although in those t-shirts I don't think they needed much help.
See you all next year!

Awesome weekend. Thanks to Hassan and Max for letting me play with them (although, let's be honest, if there was any real team effort, it went towards getting drunk). Also, thanks to Bibs and Vic for hosting us (and me for a bit longer). Trip to the Peaks was pretty awesome! I never got a bottle of Pickled Onion Monster Munch sauce, though. Bring some next time you're in town!

i entered a raffle at the event to try and win a drill.... i won a 7 day pass at a gym in sheffield instead though, if anyone wants it PM me and I'll let them know where to collect it. I dont mind who has it or if you want to give it to someone else.

Cheers for an awesome tourney Sheffield, the whole weekend was great, and the camping was genius. All i can remember is Ninja shouting about feeding Luca cider from his ball-bag, then remembering he is a social worker!

#constructivecriticism the boards were really crap and the gutter was super sketch!
Duly noted. Anyone else got any pointers for next year?

Also, if anyone's got any photos they could share with us (to keep our sponsors happy) please drop us a line at soyopoloco@yahoo.com

Agree with Max about the boards. Obviously it would depend on budget restraints, but it would be amazing if you could build separate tournament courts with no netting. Personally, I think this sort of thing really needs to be geared towards really exhibiting polo and getting people excited about it. I think we could learn some lessons from things like trials demos and have a commentator/announcer explaining rules/plays/giving matches context/involving the crowd. Perhaps even having dedicated exhibition matches? You want people to say “I don’t want to go home, I want to watch the bike polo at 4pm.”
The structure of the public sessions seemed to work really well (and I might not have been paying enough attention here...) but I didn’t see too much info around about where/when to play in Sheffield?

+1 on the lack of info. no one new turned up last night and half of those that did were injured. but all in all it was a huge polo promo for Sheffield

• #266
ok, full standings for this anyone?

http://challonge.com/sheffieldns for the round-robin.
The top 4 played off against each other for a bit of spectator-friendly climax, but Phil's Stag Do left early so Electric Cream took their place.
This left Spring Break > Nice Touch > Netto > Cream.
I passed all the results to Aufbruch to update the NS points etc.
massive thanks to all, a huge pat on the back to chris and hannah, tip of the flat cap to andrew and the rest of soyo and warm thanks to all who made it to sunny sheffield for a scorching, laid back, fun polo tourney.
