Bit of a dredge but here goes:
Anyone on here prepared to hire us their camper van so that we can follow the tour around this summer?
Alternately, any camper van hire companies you'd recommend?
This appears to be the airbnb of camper van hire. Anyone used it?

Major syncro envy, can't believe you sold it.
Couldn't live without a T25 in my life ....

Thread dredge!
can anyone tell me about mpg and reliability for a T25 compared to a T4?
I want a T25, but I think a T4 will be more economical/reliable. Is that particularly true?
I kind of think if a T25 is still running, it must be OK?! -

A diesel type 25 will be ok, but pretty underpowered compared to a T4....the early T4's with normal Diesel engines, not common rail or turbos, will do plenty of mpg while still driving well.
I've got a bay window type 2, 2litre and consequently don't give a fuck about mpg though!

@n3il I had a T4 2.5tdi 888 which was ok for fuel economy. I used to drive it fully loaded (two bikes and all the conversion gubbins and I was getting about 600-650 miles out of a full tank, on longer journeys I could squeeze just over 700 out of it.
I've got not idea about a T25 but I think a T4 will be more economical plus the extra power.

Ive got a t4 2.5 tdi 102 and it cruises at 80mph all day, is warm, comfortable, reliable and reasonably economical and I've got a king sized bed in the back.
I love t25s but the t4 is unbeatable in my opinion (except on looks). -

We got our van! Parked up at the seafront. Cooked our first meal, now getting tucked up in bed!

Waiting to collect this beauty. Put a deposit on it before it went off to go on display at the Caravan and Camper show at the NEC last week.

This is my camper. It's a Car Cruiser Commodore coachbuilt van conversion based on a Mercedes T1 208D. Company was based near Nottingham and was an offshoot of a furniture company from what I can find on the internet. Only done 48k miles and the previous owner had it for 22 years until he was 90!

We parked up next to this a few weeks back, obviously the Hiace could feel the slight jealousy as we chatted with the owners from their TV-watching armchair set up, the next day we headed north to find the brushes in the starter motor had gone, thankfully managed to spark the solenoid into action and get to the garage.

Pretty chilly sleeping half way up a volcano, not a bad place to brew up in the morning though!

How's the hiace? Looking at Bedford midi/Nissan urvan/hiace clones at the mo.
and after a couple of years (got bored of the td1600, wanted more silly power and less beds, a big one was just enough) I sold it to get this 2.1 litre boxer Syncro, basically a monster that nothing can stop (apart from running out of money for fuel, it drinks like a bastard!). I sold it after moving to London:
