This apparently is my skid face ^
Congrats again Jim. Good to put some other names to faces EEI and Nelaii.
Was great to be a small part of such a great event. Getting to compete for minimum effort and loads of glory! Happy with 3rd place. Can't even imagine the level of fitness needed to actually race, seriously impressive.
On a down side i saw a really nasty crash at the top end in the race after the skids up at the top end by the crossing, paramedics and everything the guy seriously tanked it into the railings and didn't get up. Does anyone know if he was ok?
looking forward to next year

Mad jealous to have missed this :(

I'm pretty sure he did get up, I think we saw him walk with the medics to the finish. Unfortunately it looked as if his face had taken the brunt of the impact :|
Well done on the skidding.

He carried too much speed into the corner and hit the railings. Road rash on his arm and face, bloody nose. Looks like he really winded himself more than anything cos he refused a ride in the ambulance and walked down to the finish to cheers from the crowd.

Top event! It was quite cool as a fairly average cyclist to be cheered on by several thousand people (though I won my little skermish for 9th? by wheel-hanging all race then going for a 500m sprint). Any photos of number 2 in pennies gratefully received.
Nice skid by Jim :)

He most definitely also fractured his cheek. Looked like an egg was coming out of his head when he got up and walked past. But he was semi smiling. Tough dude.

THe sponsors black top with blue stripe and a Casco Attack helmet. Burgandy coloured penny.
Edit: Like above! Nice photo PP - even looks as though I wasn't going to beaten to the line in the first race sprint :)

apart from riding in to a curb then a bus i managed to get home safely... bit of a sore knuckle this morning.
I rode into a curb later too, a bit around a keep left bollard... grazed knee for me, I was giggling in the middle of the road for a bit then thought that might be dangerous

What a fucking great day. 'spect to everyone who took part. I've put a gallery up here:

which covers folding bike race to women's criterium. Was too far round the track to get back for the skid compo though, a failure I regret... -

Some great pics on here from yesterday.
Thanks to Digger for the cow bell, I can tell you now some 3 year olds are going to have big smiles ontheir faces ......for about 5 minutes.
It was the day of the scars. James that looked like a serious leg, keep riding. Chris, good to see you up and about and if you ever need that Osteopath just ask ;) And Joe Smiff who understands that beer helps heel wounds and makes scars less visible.
loved the pennies.
Scarlett what happened? some serious dudes in that fold up race but we cheered you on...once we knew which one was you. -
