  • nice one edinburgh, great hosting! had a really good time, organisation was spot on, made new friends, a memorable weekend.

now wheres these videos of chans dancing? the internet must see them hahaha

  • I love polo.

    but i hate coaches.

Thanks to Edinburgh for staging an epic weekend. Legends!

  • Teams need 2 constant players to count the points. They have to be the same 2 players all the way through.

So, if Alex and Rob have played all 3 together, the points will go under Erectus. Right now I can't remember. I do try to remember all the lineups but if I mess up just PM me the lineups for each tournament and I'll work it out.

  • whatever james, didnt you see what bill just said!

  • Bill is mean.

Especially when he makes me tap out again 'in the middle'. That really makes my eyes narrow.

Apart from that he's alright, for a ref.

  • whatever james, didnt you see what bill just said!

    ah!

  • aufbruchs confession.....he knows what it is...oh the mystery!

This should never be spoken of again.

Also, thank you Edinburgh for hosting, Fast Dave for housing and Nick for a pretty, pretty, pretty good party!

hmmmm, so james, how would it work if me alex and josh played in brighton, and then alex and josh played in sheffield with emmet, but then at the london open, it'll be me and alex and a sub, does that mean we wont get the points added on?

  • 2 of 3 usually refers to 2 of the original team members playing with a changing third. It's not usually about a floating team structure (DTGP style) or a five person draft, etc.

    James can probably clarify things.

  • DTGP = don't tell guthrie please

  • Like Jono says: by the letter of the rules you will not get the points because you only have one constant player (Alex).

  • Yep, that's fine, I just wanted to clarify. If Alex and Rob had played all 3, there would be no question, it's just we have played 2 games with Rob and Alex, 2 games with Me and Alex. But as I'm the sub, I would rather Erectus get the points than Pesky Erections.

  • Erectus now have the points.

  • thanks

  • precious points

  • So with the rules on subs as they stand if a team has an injured player and takes a sub for one tourney, then subsequently has another different injured player any tourneys they they play with the second substitution cannot be counted as NS valid points/placings?

Sounds a bit harsh, but if thems the rules....

From my point of view Ste can't make Bristol so Asbo will have a sub but then later in the year when Woody moves to Vancouver we may as well disband Asbo as we can no longer gain NS points... Or I guess we play Bristol but do not make any claim on our points from it/play under a different name...

  • did I see a rolling 180 hop to get ball? Mad...!

Yep, I saw quite a few. ridiculous. And the long shot was most definitely on for Cam in those finals.

  • We just tried to find a middle-ground that balanced the transient nature of bike polo teams with the need to ensure consistency when allocating NS points. I don't think either of the 3 examples detailed above go against the spirit of the rule. However, there has to be a line on what is/isn't a team.

NS is a work in progress - better suggestions and increased involvement always welcome.

Nah, that's fine, you just have to have 2 of your lineup, not the same two. So as long as you and one of Ste or Woody play in every tournament it's fine.

The issue with Polo Erectus/Pesky Erections was that Alex is the only player from the original three to play in Sheffield, so that can't be counted.

  • It should be like the league any 2 from a team... maybe teams need to define their core players when they first play an ns game(or in thier next ns game as it's started already)?

  • Big thanks Edinburgh. Appreciate all the hard work this tournament took. Free homemade biscuits were pretty awesome too! Shame about the surface but still, we all dealt (tried) with it and more patience and tactics entered play which is a good lesson.
Mega thanks to Eva for letting us stay as your lovely place. Loved looking across the hills.
Always great to see the UK polo scene coming together and really hope to see you all soon.
Scotland we need to see you guys more!
Loved the 'do it' chants in the pub and the build up to a sweet superman down the stairs from Mirek. Ouch mate!
Shame I missed the club antics but kinda pleased I did also! Seriously I don't know how you all manage to play the day after.
Good to see everyone reffing too.
Love to my team mates x

  • Thanks for a great weekend everyone on and off the court was ace

  • Likewise with some of the above comments, Thor shouldn't really get the points for the High Flange result as Luca is the only member from Thor. In theory Cream would be just as entitled to them because Bogey was playing for them too (even though Cream were entered also?) - or Chris, he's like an elite polo free agent.

so then would scorgasm be ok? as at least two of me, josh and alex will be present in every national series event?

  • If anyone in Edinburgh finds a navy Chunk sweatshirt (M) then it could well be one I've mislaid.
