  • 'hung like a horse, licks like a lesbian'

Just reminding you your in England, not Thailand..

  • '*As long as my teams is sorted, I'm not that bothered what everyone else is doing.'

    Fantastic for the scene.

  • well that's me playing in cambridge more often then. :|

  • '*As long as my teams is sorted, I'm not that bothered what everyone else is doing.'

Sorry - just getting dismayed with nothing moving forwards. Didn't mean it really... This system is better for Birmingham polo than seeding was.

Anyway - teams decided tonight are:

    Matt/Andy/James
Dan/Dan_LJ/Lucas (so long as Lucas is cool with that)
    Fin/Chris/Neil

Everyone who was at the pub this evening would like to stress that this won't change how we play polo in Brum. We'll still play throw-ins on Wednesdays and Sundays, and the people who aren't in teams will get to play just as many games as before. We will play one or two team games at each meeting, depending on turnout, but 90% of games will just be throw-ins as normal.

If any of the other people want to form a team, they can, but it's up to them to sort it.

Alternatively, I'm sure there will be loads of chances to sub in to Birmingham teams for tournaments, because none of us are in the situation that we can go to every tournament - the Nationals are looking decidedly patchy at the moment, for example.

Either way, none of this is set in stone, we'll see how we get on (initially for a month, then for the rest of the season) and if anyone's pissed off or even better has an alternative suggestion, voice your opinion!

  • Soooo got wiped out on the way home, looked up and you'd all gone! crying and bleeding with two bikes FTW

Anyway, I agree with all that was said tonight. Quite happy to be Matt/Andy/James official sub and not form a team yet, need more time to improve and means I can practice with people with similar commitments more often.

  • Hope you're all right Jess, what's the damage?

I don't mind being a sub but would prefer a regular team to play with. I can't remember who's left, I'll check the seeding list and see.

My friend John has an old gents shopping bike that he wants to build up for polo, new recruit I hope!

  • I walked into my house...
New housemate with nice Raleigh bike: "Oh my god, what happened?"
Me: "Stupid polo bike. Want to come play with us on Sunday?"
New housemate looking my bike up and down: "Nah, think I'll give it a miss!"

My pride/patience hurts more than my nosebleed/buckled front wheel however nice housemate pointed out we have a wicked patch of carpark/tarmac attached to our back garden which is perfick for solo polo :) when I'm better, I'll be in your team!

The teams are for tournaments. This will allow the members understand each others play and tactics, which we never got to do as black stabbath.
A couple of team games each week will improve team skills.

I would encourage the others to form tournament teams too.
This method (as opposed to seeding) means we now have 3+ teams in brum that could realistically go to tournaments instead of 2.

    +1

If we could get 1-2 more teams, we could do a mini-league, with one fixture at each meeting, record goals and scorers, and stick results on the blog. That may help to attract more players/teams as it makes it look a bit more official/competetive. Yet we'll still have the vast majority of games as throw-ins, so everyone can be accommodated.

  • Easy enough to form a couple of extra teams imo, but my idea for a team name has copyright, so ner.

Popping in OYB tomorrow, need so 1.5 26" tubes Danski..stash me a couple please.

    Dismayed..fair enough. =)

Do it Stu especially if your around brum for the summer.

It was also agreed that we'll regroup and discuss the outcomes of the above at the end of the season - early october. So this is a sort of trial for a few months to assess the positives and negatives.

  • Drill Collins! #1

  • So who wants to join the currently undefeated dream team with me and Jess?
Si, Pete? You seem to be attending most regularly out of the remaining people (Si, Pete, Rob, Sarah)

  • Fleetwood Hack is born..In ;)

  • I was thinking more like 'Feckin Boik Snewker!'

  • Lmao

  • Lucas's team better bring some spare frikin front quick releases..classic....

  • Sarah .. Rob .. Lichfield has the most silky smooth grassy surface on which we can practice our Bowling skills, as long as you have the obligatory 'whites'. In 20+ years time we could be the undisputed champions. Fancy that? There's even a pub attached!

  • ^ blud, i'm making a team design with that pic! Drill coming in from the left. Merk dem collins.
