  • Nice forecast!!
Good luck to all London teams over there, hope the heat doesnt destroy you all.

  • scorchio

  • So wish I was there... Irony is that I'll probably be finished up at work by tomorrow afternoon but I still have to be here Friday and Monday to make sure things are OK... Fuckstix... :[

Have a great time, guys, and kick almighty shit out of the foreigns!!! Don't forget to tweet home... x

  • Yeah good luck UK, bring back some glory

  • any tips for packing your bike in a bike bag?

  • Wheels on the outside, frame in the middle. Mini d-lock between the drop outs (or cardboard, or similar). Add cardboard to everything if it's an unpadded bag. Don't have anything moving around (use towels or clothes to give everything "it's place"). Use compression straps on the outside if your bag is marginally too big for your bike (compression straps help with keeping things secure/immobile).

Add your address somewhere and add a fragile sticker or two for good measure (and pray to the luggage throwing gods).

  • That is great!

  • Nice, did everthing you said. Only concerns are the brake lever (wrapped with vinyl now) and the wheels there are on the outside, they don't place bagage on top of bike bags are they?

Never traveled with a bike by plane

  • Go 'Nadoes! Go Heroez! Go Tora!

They will stack the bags, but not too badly, usually damage occurs from throwing (so I've heard), I've trued wheels on arrival before but everything else has been fine (touch wood).

  • it's pretty much pot luck, ie. depends on the mood of the baggage handlers. I've had a bent crank arm which must have be done by something pretty heavy being thrown on top.

Like Jono says: wrap it up as best you can and pray to luggage throwing gods

  • Does this mean we're playing first?
SHITT. What time does the wildcard kick off? our flight arrives at 9.25, wont be at the court til at least 10.30 i reckon??

  • Send Alejandro an email Zoe, they'll be able to delay your game all being well (swap you with a mid-table team).

I am dubious that it will kick off at 9.30am, but yeah, try and pass the first game responsibility to someone else!

  • have done.. hopefully he'll understand!
Erin is on our flight too non? Theirs is second, they should probably do the same right?
    thanks jono

Like Jono says: wrap it up as best you can and prey to luggage throwing gods

I arrived in Geneva with a bent chainring, fucked chain, and squished dropouts. Definatly pack everything as tight as you can, you can't use enough gaffer tape

  • Yep, fingers crossed it works out, I imagine they will schedule the teams in attendance first and delay your games as long as possible...

Where did this come from? Who's doing it?

  • Software written by a Como (I think) player called Vince. We used it for the first round of the National Series in Brighton and it should be present at all the other events as well. He's adding to it all the time and it's very easy to use. Has features like a scorekeeper for refs to use on their smartphones, which they can then use to update the bracket.

  • Right, I emailed Alejandro about pushing our game back (its currently 1st and we only get in at 9.25am!). He said he'd see what he can do. If anyone goes down early/sees him/people organising before we get there, can you try and get our game moved back if it hasn't been already. (probably not that flexible, but worth a try) The team name is HEroeZ. Thannks gang, would be rubbish to miss our game.

  • hmm I emailed last night, and have heard nada (he's obvs busy and what not)
i'm praying to the wildcard gods for a late start...

nik and josh will be there, zoe, as will erika and helen, so perhaps they can try to wrangle something on our behalf..

  • Tweets are starting to come in on #ehbpc and #ehbpc2011. Nice one chukker.

  • Good luck everyone in Barca, do us proud.

Who's in the wildcard tomorrow, Tornadoes, Ben, Tora Tora Tora, HEroeZ. Anyone else?

How many make it through to the main event?

  • 13 from what looks like 24..

  • Send Alejandro an email Zoe, they'll be able to delay your game all being well (swap you with a mid-table team).

    Thanks Jono :D

  • So I'm guessing the wildcard didn't start at 9:30 then? Otherwise it's very quite on the results front.
