What size? If it's an XL, I'm interested.

  • Good one, let you know this evening.

    edit: it's "S-L 54-58cm"

    Moth!

Like a butterfly, only it is off to war!

  • Rules question - it says no pushing/holding with the hands. However, forearms are specifically allowed.

So, I can push opposing players from the side with my forearm whenever it pleases me?

No. Only when it pleases the ref.

  • Clem?

  • I am none the wiser.

My forearm would be impacting their steering arm the majority of the time so I can't imagine I'm reading the rules right.

  • Safety Buffer.

  • Your forearms and shoulders can be used to protect your cockpit/space. Shoulders can also be used for tussling for the breaking line and checking at the boards. If you meet arms/shoulders then a bit of "argy bargy" is fine, if you're trying to play player's off their bikes it will be called. Hoping around to free yourself from another player's bike is fine, hopping into another player's bike isn't fine.

Any kind of elbow will be penalised, as will forearms putting pressure on another player's bars, dodgy pushing, shoulder checking from behind/out of nowhere, etc.

Basically the same old "play the ball", "fight for your space/lines", but avoid trying to play people off their bikes. Controlled aggression, skillful moves, etc... London has it down for the most part in my opinion.

Ask questions of your ref if you're unsure of anything pre-game, get them to clarify their stance on different rules if you want (hopefully everything will be consistent throughout the tournament)?

  • You can use your fore-arm to protect yourself.

Clotheslining, chicken-winging etc should attract a heavy penalty from any ref that spots it.

  • Safety Buffer.

People say this but I have no idea what it means.

I'm not particularly prone to protecting myself by hitting other people with any part of my body so I imagine it won't be a major issue. I have no idea how you ref threat levels.

  • Safety buffer = players not getting caught up in each other's bikes (crashing) by using their arms to protect their cockpit/space.

The arms/shoulders of players can meet "like-for-like" and then the shoulders can be used to tussle for the breaking line. Any downward force of the arms to take out someone's cockpit, or elbows in ribs, etc will be heavily penalised.
