All players will be required to have a number printed on the back of their shirts (lower back is preferable as it is easier to see when on the bike).
It doesn't matter which number you choose (keep it short and simple,** 0-9**), just make sure it is big enough for the ref to see.
Do it yourselves before the tourney and get it done properly, or let us do it our way... -

I love Barcelona, but a word of caution:
I have been all over N America & Europe with the messenger crew, and been to some notorious crime spots (S E DC, Philly etc) & I can honestly say that of all the cities I have been to in Europe & N America, Barcelona is by far the worst for crime against the person that I have been to. I know it was a while ago, but when we were there with the Messenger Worlds in 97, literally every city group had at least 1 (usually more) person that was robbed of something (wallets, bags, bikes etc).
DC and Philly, along with many other US cities, are pretty fucking tough, especially if you go to the wrong places. And they have guns.

As an aside, the after party for the DC Worlds was in the Ballroom in south east D.C. that Trouble Funk used to play at in the 80s. According to the locals, a really tough area.

What about London? I have had someone try to break down my door and pry open my window, and also when we absentmindedly left our door open for five minutes ellen's purse (with passport) got stolen. At Newt a group of us were attacked by about 10 black youts with black hoods up, weilding pipes and sticks. Rocks have been thrown at people by chavs at Mitch. Felix got beaten nearly to death.
Racist.

To sum up, barca has pickpockets. London has petty thugs who get scared if a fat bearded man runs at them and American criminals have guns... My fear of uk criminals is almost entirely based on meeting US ones.
This should really be a short lived discussion... Although aren't the messenger champs in rio soon?! Or have they been recently?

thanks guys, i dreamt i borrowed amanda seattles velib polo bike to play in barca/philly and in between yoga sessions on the court, it got stolen. I went looking for it and found dt's polo bike stripped to the frame and chucked in a pile of nappies and twigs. I also watched 7even last night so i'm not entirely blaming youse.

Newbie question, never travelled on the plane with my bike and too lazy to search, how do I pay the surcharge to get a bike checked in? Flying with Ba...
-
• #266
as long as it's not more than the checked baggage allowance, you don't pay anything
-
• #267
Thanks :)

I've never paid extra with BA, even when I've had multiple bags and have gone over 23kg (or whatever the current allowance is), BA are great, free in-flight drinks for the win.
