ok, so the loaner is almost ready. [thanks: Frame and parts from: Chukker Norris, more parts: thedutch, dublinkevin and io]
I say almost because i was going to clean and re-grease but i discovered i cannot move the seat post. it may simply need someone stronger than me :-/
Also, the rubber boot of the v-brake is split - i 'll swing by a shop for one tomorrow :-) -

Hero Io! Are u coming to south tonite? Could come and try that seat post, but I guess I won't be able to do much either. Then we could go to newt together?

You can ignore the rubber boot, it's not a problem without it.

I don't think that seat post is coming out, but maybe a mechanic has some tricks.

The loaner which Mark Kifer has should be going free in the next week or so. His pomp is now built up.

Anyone know what happened to my old carlton? Think turd had it last?…

Im currently using the loner bike that IO built up, the seat post as people know wont move but its a good height for me untill I build my own bike.
-
• #187
Is the seat post good height for you? If not it is not that hard to get it out.
-
• #188
Its fine for me, perfect i would say! if you know a good way of getting it out then maybe once I give it back you can loosen it so other people can use it :)

Caustic soda and hot water (always soda first then hot water), bit of health and safety precautions needed but it is not such a hard thing to do.

'Kifer's' loaner is now at LMNH Mare Street. It needs some attention: head set and front hub - need to be tensioned, hopefully not more. It will also get information about Beginner's sessions East and South on its wheel cover. Then it'll go together with a mallet on the café's wall to promote polo - and to be used for mainly the east sessions at LF (or Downs in the future?).

Iain sent me this from twitter, which looks like it could be the Archie frame I donated and Io built.

Is that the frame? If not, anyone know who has the Archie loaner?

Johannes was using it.

hey, yes, Joe ("Blue" on forum) took it to use for polo which he did, but havent seen him for months (like 9 months or so). The seat post was stuck and I had left it like that as it was OK for him to ride. He knows that it was your frame and that it was put as a a loaner... this is a photo i took after i build it up and the one in the park was on the day i picked it up.
Just spotted, scroll up post #188

Sheeeeeeet! Has he sold it on??
Where's my torch and pitch fork gone now.....
-
• #195
Has anyone else emailed Joe to ask him? If not I will - possible that he just asked someone to help him with the seat tube, so let's clear that up before we start pitchforkin... Either way that bike should come back to the community for a beginner to use

Ah... Scrap that actually - looks like Johannes isn't on facebook any more so got no way of contacting him. Last time we spoke he had just got a new job as a courier.

Hey. Let's not conclude that yet. . I think only a very stupid guy would sell this bike. Joe is still in bike circles, so as I said it ll be a very stupid move if he sold it. He was made perfectly aware where the bike came from and that it was borrowed.
