So is it less damaging to the environment to drink cans or bottles of beer? Because I’ve definitely got a footprint there.

We grow mint in our garden. We tried growing a number of other herbs, but the mint took over the planter and killed them all.
Now we have mint in its own pot.
We can make the most smug mojitos you'll ever taste.

When it comes down to it, the most environmentally friendly way to drink a beer is to ride your bike to the nearest brewery and drink straight form the tap.
I'm not sure how the bartender would react to you drinking straight from the tap...

They never reply when I hassle them about parking on bus routes.

You can run your bath and sink water through a trough full of mint and the water comes out cleanish (not to drink). I use it to water stuff and fill my pond. This is a new one I’ve just made to cope with bathroom and kitchen outflows.
And mint tea on tap almost.

Fuck you barkeep, I’ve got a planet to save!

Maybe, but like I said, small steps. Missus will probably try it some time but I'm happy with the PB we have :)

We have vodka here made using berries from nearby farmland/hedges.

Nothing less than a keg is acceptable...

Growler fills ftw!

Oh yeah, I used to use grey water to water the garden 15 years ago in Oz.

This. Except growler fills at my lol mean the same 2 beers have been on for ages, not sure how well / long they keep for if folks aren't buying them?

Keep drinking them until they turn into sours... then keep drinking them until they're gone. :)

Small step convenience tip: some refill shops do mesh/fabric bags which can be good alternatives to the bakery / loose veg bags in supermarkets. Don't know how helpful that is, but they weigh fuck all so I always have one and it helps.
What's this growler fill thing? I had to google it but still don't recognise anything as a pub activity

When you shit your entire digestive system out from bad beer then send the lawyers around. Beer4lyf.

What's this growler fill thing?
Some pubs/bottle shops/offies/breweries will fill a 1L/2L bottle with beer, a "growler", for you to take away. If you don't want to drink at the pub or you want it for later, etc.

I haven't seen anyone use a growler in Brewdog for ages. Noble Green is an example of a booze shop that does growler fills:

I am trying to drink less, but I'm willing to take one for the team and start getting 2l growler refills if it's good for the planet

• #173
Ah gotcha. My pub of choice sort of does this, but no high tech looking containers like that I'm pretty sure they're paint tins

These guys https://www.toastale.com/ would say cans.
They also use some food waste in the brewing process, so at least a nod towards sustainability
Oh yeah, foraging - started to learn a bit about this. Only really used wild rocket, garlic, horseradish and obvious berries so far, but planning to get more into it.
Tried growing a few things, but boat space is very limited, it’s more for enjoyment than to have a material effect.
