Lots more cyclists this morning. No fewer cars.

Left after 8 this morning which is always a mistake, busy all the way and a couple of BABs revving the throttles unnecessarily.
On the plus side my commute won't have been as bad as the driver of the audi a3 that had a romanian lorry driver go into the rear nearside of them at Southwark Bridge Road this morning. Ouch and I hope you don't get screwed over by insurance companies -

Yep, saw this too. Didn't look fun.

100+ hard miles yesterday, so a soft peddling commute today. Right up until the moment the first cyclist went past me, at which point... race! I'm an idiot.

Moved out from Putney to Kingston last week. Doubled my commute which I would have been happy with anyway, however cycling through Richmond Park (Ham gate and across the middle) is even more of a joy than I had anticipated. Absolutely bloody lovely.
Going to try to the more direct but off-road route via Wimbledon Common this eve. Can't wait.

Out the door, up the hill, decide I need a new bag, stop at the top to check wheel nuts, tighten up all nights, down college road, chain drops off, pull over, retension, get back on, cycle to work, fairly busy, annoying squeak from front brake pads, decide to change cables tonight, encounter elephant and castle, park bike at work, not found showers.

Unleashed the road bike rather than fixed and revelled in the sheer speed of thing. Nice to change it up regularly. Passed too close by a van and skip truck, waved my arms about, got a beep in response. Muggy weather, very sweaty when I arrived, the exercise took the edge off the hangover though.

Irritable from being over tired and hungry this morning, not helped by the young lady with day-glo jacket.
1st issue with her was she pulled straight out of a side road across mine and a motorbikes path lucky empty road so both of use able to make an emergence manoeuvre.
2nd issue was her effort to beat the traffic along Rathlin Road by the market, she decided to ride up the right hand side into on coming traffic causing more of an issue.
3rd issue and the one that made me shout was when she decided to filter left up the inside of a left turning truck, the lights had been red for a while and could have turned green at any second but it didn't stop her, although when the truck started turning it did bring her craziness to a stop. Apologized to her for shouting, she couldn't see what was wrong as in front of the truck was an ASL box. Pointed out the light situation and they they were about to turn green, her responses was that it was as they were on red.......Will never ceased to be amazing at some people.
Will shout again 5/10

People don't like other people saving their lives. They like to be in charge of their own stupidity.
*mumbles something about that being why everyone voted tory -

I think in her world a red light will remain red until she has managed to filter.

At Bricklayers Arms this morning a cyclist pulled up at the lights a bit to my right. Out of the corner of my eye I sensed something was amiss. Yes, this was his first day of commuting with SPDs and he toppled sideways, bringing down the chap next to me on his Holdsworth. Fortunately there was a big enough gap and that's as far as the domino effect went. Everyone seemed agreeably tolerant about it. I'm not sure I'd have been particularly polite if I had been taken out.
Lovely ride all the same, despite someone with one of those blower things blowing all the horse chestnut blossom at me as I passed the cemetery on Brockley Way.

Hey everyone turtles once in a while when clipped in, show the love
-
• #6368
Yeah, I know - I was just conscious that I might not have been as forgiving as the chap on the Holdsworth who was v decent about it.

I toppled over twice yesterday while stationary on a bloody audax.
Twice in one day after zero times in over a year. What?

Stationary on an Audax. Taking this non-competitive thing a bit far I think ....

I was stopping to be sick after having had too many cups of tea.

That was a joke. I actually had NO cups of tea on the audax.
The first time I was just stood waiting for my mate to write down a number on a telegraph pole (#audaxlyf).
The second I was puling out of a T junction left, behind said mate. I was looking right and smiling at an oncoming cyclist but didn't realise my mate had stopped in front of me. Cue fallage.
I'm a courier and this is where I went today https://www.strava.com/activities/300584216
