Sailing over the stop line so they're past the traffic light and can't see when it changes
Been wondering about this. Is it officially disapproved, or recommended for less confident riders to get a head start on traffic? I don't do it obvs, just power away from lights leaving everyone in my dust.

Highway Code says you must NEVER go over the stop line unless the light is green.
Or something. I'm not sure about amber but basically nobody should ever be going over it when you're supposed to be stopping.

official rules are stop at stop line when light is red, cf operation safeway.

If it's a first offence he'll be offered a course. If not he should accept the points. Either way I doubt you will end up in court. Prosecute the twunt.

Ah cool. Just checking I'm allowed to get wound up by people wobbling 1om past me doing shit 'trackstands' then getting in my way as soon as the lights change.

There is not a lot of space to the left or right. To the left there is the kerb and railings and to the right oncoming motorbikes/*cyclists (*rare)/vehicles pulling over into the middle to overtake left filtering cyclists. Probably best to take primary ?

Rear brake QR open
Saddle too low
Pedalling with arches of feet
Sailing over the stop line so they're past the traffic light and can't see when it changes
Pushes to front of ASZ, can't clip in when lights change+1

That's how I do it, occasionally sneaking up on the left or right if and only if there's enough time and room. Think it's best to accept that TB's a slow crossing and enjoy the view. Us SE people really need a new bridge. That would be ace.

if traffic is crawling along, over tower bridge behind a sightseeing bus, then taking primary is the slower option.
Despite a couple of hand gestures and shouts recently, I find most motorcyclists will give and take with filtering space. If there is space on their side they'll pull in a bit to allow you to pass, and I do the same if there's space on my side. -

get him prosecuted he'll probably get driver training instead of prosecution, but hopefully he'll think twice about making a dodge move like that in future..

I've been getting really annoyed with motorbikes on my current commute - between south of Blackfriars to north of Farringdon there's such a cavalcade of cunts, coming either way... muscle to the front, sit inside the ASL, rev furiously, accelerate like it's a Moto GP, then scream and beep and rev like a twat at any stray pedestrian crossing the road at the next junction they've just 0-60'd in 2 seconds. I fucking hate motorbikes. There, I said it. I feel better now.
-
• #6314
I hate that too. I have asked motorbikes to stop revving like that in the past, esp when it's intimidating to more vulnerable peds WHO HAVE A GREEN WALK LIGHT. It's so fucking aggressive.

Cunts use all forms of transport.
-
• #6316
Motorbikes and scooters blocking the entrance "sliproads" to the ASZ do my head in.

Cunts use all forms of transport.
LMFTFY
All cunts use forms of transport.
All use of transport forms cunts.
-
• #6318
Yeah he was. I was dumbfounded.
-
• #6319
I think some forms of transport make you more cunty though - motorbikes demand to be ridden fast because, you know, brrmm BRMMM! And things like BMWs, Audis, Range Rovers - apart from appealing to cunts, they're also incredibly quiet and comfy inside, and rally powerful - so you might not even appreciate how aggressive you're driving them to those outside.
-
• #6320
... or appreciate just what a whopper you look when you do that over-take just before lights routine, because, you know, much powerful engine must be at front.

Driving in LDN traffic is hell. Problem is, drivers still go through it, and most of them are terrible at chilling out and accepting the traffic.
-
• #6322
Don't rely on it. I was told I could claim, but when I told them how much they said the max was £90 for the day.
-
• #6323
and a sightseeing hire bike peloton
(we are still on TB btw :) )
-
• #6324
Well, I guess then tell them you can only attend for £90 worth of your day! If you're a solicitor that could be 6 minutes.

My stock response to this sort of idiocy now is "bro, do you even highway code?" then let them eat my dust.
Update to this, the guy who filmed this actually submitted it to Roadsafe and police have asked him to complete a form 966 to get the guy on the moped prosecuted and he's asked if I want to get involved. Am I a bad person if I have absolutely no desire to potentially take a day off work and spend it in court over a near miss?
