  • Elsdale Street
Oncoming car was turning right into Milborne Street.

  • Nice running into you today (not literally) .. hope you're OK and not feeling too sore!

  • Cheers, we want that area filtered to cut out the through motor traffic.

  • Good seeing you too. Not badly hurt but things are slowly seizing up. My lack of injury is causing much mirth at work. Chris had a head on smash with a car and the car lost.

  • Relative density.

  • can we please focus on the important things: why is my bike making noises today when it was smooth as butter yesterday?

  • Booked minicab for 6:15 it turned up at 6:12.

  • Need to pay more attention to the weather forecast. Dressed for 6-8 Celsius and got a bit of a shock. Brrrr.

  • Didn't your 20% body fat insulate you nicely?

  • Has Sam lost weight?

  • Second day of new commute, Herne Hill to Emirates Stadium, just shy of ten miles.

Beautiful weather, wave from the Loughborough Road lollipop man, getting through the city via Southwark Bridge was slow but uneventful.

    8/10 will ride again.

Any thoughts on the best way of getting from South to North for this route? Blackfriars bridge is horrible on Ludgate hill. Southwark Bridge has the annoying pedestrian bit. Not tried London or Tower yet. I am also wondering about going Vauxhall bridge, Edgeware road and then across through Camden. Crazy?

  • Vauxhall Gyratory is one to avoid.

Can't offer any other help, my only North/South travels are stupid'o'clock to get to Essex Audaxes for 9am. (I use London Bridge but, funnily enough, it's empty at 6am at the weekend.)

  • Vauxhall Gyratory is one to avoid.

Seconded. I go via Herne Hill and cross at Westminster Bridge but TBH getting north through the West End is a PITA. Used to have to get to UCL near KX and there's no easy way of doing it.

Waterloo Bridge is OK but AVOID Kingsway like the plague. Might have to find your own little rat run like I used to have, involving millions of tiny back streets.

  • #rep for the Loughborough Lollipop Man.

  • I recently started Hither Green to Islington.. and generally prefer small annoyance of Southwark Bridge to craziness of London Bridge

Westminster Bridge any good? Parliament Square is a be meh but constitution hill after is quite nice.. used to be my old commute..

  • Turn right after Blackfriars, then immediate left up Blackfriars Lane, then up Old Bailey, straight across Newgate St, through Smithfield Market then up St John St to the Angel.

  • GWS @Ramsaye, we gonna see you at Easts given your new location?!

  • Lovely ride to work. Then it went wrong. No loo roll in the cubical. Cue waddle along the lavatory line trying not to soil my boxers searching for paper. Successful errand, but unnecessarily stressful start to Thursday.

  • Attention! Attention! All points Bulletin!

Woaaahhh! Be careful out there today people......There's a 20 mile stretch of cycle path and road tarmac betwixt Dartford and Holborn that I've just set on fire as a result of the heat generated from my new super speedy tyres and my nuclear powered short fat hairy legs. 1Hr 25min 03secs (ish). Deffo better than last week. Speeds of 24 MPH were obtained in one place with an av of 13.8, I just phoned the Guinness Book of Records office but all they did was laff and put the phone down. Some people eh! Pfft.

  • Van man beeping me down old street, overtook dangerous smirking like a cunt trying to usher me to the gutter.

Gave him the finger as I passed him as he waited behind some trafic, proceed him flipping from smug cunt to TURN IT UP TO 11 ENRAGED. Pulled into the bus lane to chase me trying to turn into me to get me to stop, shouted cunt about 20 times in 10 seconds and told me to pull over so he could smash me up.

He got stuck behind more traffic and i cycled on smiling gleefully in this mornings lovely sun rays.

    8/10

  • Mate =/. Dat username choice.

  • I love riding my bike for so many reasons. One of them is the ability to strike up a pleasant conversation with random strangers on the road. I had such a lovely chat with an 'old boy' last night on the way home. It actually filled me with joy just chatting and riding. You'd never get that on a train or tube journey sadly

  • Like Ludgate , most of north side of the bridges are unpleasant junctions to be around. Out of all of them, I'd pick Waterloo, but that's just my opinion man!
