  • Rode into work late, during half term, mainly along the canal with flowers coming up around Kirkstall Abbey. Lovely! So few cars on the short road bits I had to do.

  • Strangely rather more cunts than usual on my commute home this afternoon

  • Question for the commuters: when do you draw the line when you're "sick"? Some mucus and a sore throat this morning so went for it but didn't feel too great this morning. Feels like a regular cold so should be ok?

  • Not many illnesses prevent me from sitting at a computer. I usually go in anyway unless I'm projectile pooping and let my boss send me home when she deems it necessary.

Getting the tube is a no no for me so I'll either cycle or nothing regardless of health :)

  • I tend to follow the neck rule. Higher than the neck (mucus etc) is fine to ride, but lower than the neck (chesty etc) I take the car

  • same as @PhilDAS

if I'm well enough to go to work I'm well enough to cycle in

  • Are you able to work from home? Are you likely to spread whatever lurgy you have to co-workers or other members of the public? If yes to either of these don't go in.

  • Yeah, mucus and a sore throat so basically just a simple cold.

Just got me wondering if commuting to work would make it worse or not.

Being able to work from home makes me too lazy ;)

  • I find a ride tends to blow the cold out quite nicely.

  • Had to shout at a guy "No" as he decided to ride down the left a huuuuuge lorry indicating left whilst rolling through a green light. He went anyway, lorry slams on brakes, no crash noises thankfully. Don't know how he squeezed through :(

Also had a sour faced woman honk me whilst I was riding primary in steady traffic. There was all of 1 car length in front and when I looked back she was gesticulating angrily for me to get out the way. So I sat up and laughed at her before the lights down the road went red and I filtered past 15+ cars to the ASL.

  • First half was fire. Shadowed by an barn owl up a lane for quarter of a mile, then stopped to let a stag amble across, exchanged glances.
Second half, fucking arse. Close pass followed by healthy exchange with grab loader wanker, then another dribbling excuse of a driver at lights filter lane, with similar views expressed again.

  • This was fun on a post-pub commute home last night

  • yep. left all my snot on Millbank this morning

  • Did everyone enjoy National Drive Into Another Lane Without Looking Without Indicating When Someone Is Already In It Day? I know I did.

  • Is that today?
I thought it was National Overtake on Approach to a Pinch Point Which Has a Speed Hump in it and Push a Cyclist Out of Your Way Day

  • If you have an arse and attitude as big as mine you don't tend to get that.

    #takethelane

Today just seemed to be everyone diving into the left lane even though poor hippy is already there. I think just coz gym was later and I didn't get a clear run and that's the normal standard of driving I've been missing for a while.

  • I was #takingthelane but I got #pushedoutofthelane by some hiviz wankers in a small van

  • Oh yeah, apart from my stupid question.

Incident this morning. Bus/taxi/bike lane. Van decides to drive there. Some dude on his bike makes a full stop and starts yelling at the van. He was right, just the way he did it was not the way to go. From an outsider perspective he came off as the aggro.

Also, bikes are not good van stopping things and in the end it's never worth it.

  • Small vans tend to bounce off, it's only the HGVs I would actually back down for..

  • :D dude had massive calves. Must have been from pushing all those vans.

  • that day is every day

  • Also other cyclists moving from the thin cycle lane on Waterloo Bridge into the bus lane without shoulder checking is madness; actually the lack of shoulder checking in general is nuts.

  • Yeah, I've said "you've got a fucking neck, use it" to a few people these last few days. I think coz the weather is nice so there's more riders about.

  • I "have a look"ed someone this morning who rode straight off a pavement into my path. Got an apology, to be fair.

  • Someone did that to me and I rode into and taco'd his wheel. It was a piece of shit bike though so after I'd finished swearing at him and checking my own bike for damage, I felt sorry for him and helped him straighten it out so he could ride on.
