  • Heh, I've found them pretty good in rain...obviously they have their limits! When it's as cold as it is now I use some toe covers underneath them too.

  • any robust + warm 'toe' ones to recommend? i wear mine on mtb shoes and wear through them pretty quick...

  • Got a mystery flat. I couldn't find a hole but tube wouldn't hold air. Had patches but no spare tube on me. Decided I couldn't be arsed to replace a flat tube and tyre so I'd just wheel the bike on the back wheel into work. Regretted it all the way, but never quite enough to stop and take the wheel off to replace the tyre.

Yeah, these have changed my life.

Cheaper than Castelli too. Shit logo, but whatever.

  • they look just the job! nice one!

  • Only stacked it once on the ice. So far...

  • Just ordered a pair :)

  • I'm gonna give their 'Fire Feet' socks a go, will be interesting to see how they compare to DeFeet Woolie Boolie

  • can't compare them with defeet but have the old version and combined with their own overshoes I'm good until 5 degrees. Any lower and it's too cold. Best socks I've owned so far.

  • Fuuuck. Just started to snow

  • Fucking hell that was murder. Two hours of slog in headwindy snow, rain and sleet. Do I qualify for an honorary ‘hard day in January’?

  • Update on the overshoes. Fucking useless. Shoes and socks were soaked in about 2o mins, left with wet and then totally frozen feet for the next hour and a half. Put them in the wash tonight and the cover strip on the top seams have come away. Will be having words...

  • Took one look at the sleet, got tube home. The right decision

  • Should have done that ^ it was grim
No guards, had to wash my bike with the hose in the rain to get all the shit off before putting it away

  • Planned to leave work prompt for practice nursery pick up run. Cue 3 significant events that can't be left till tomorrow. Not such a problem as dealt with in 30 mins, except that meant difference between watching the snow from the train and slogging 15 minutes through blizzard and arriving at the station to surprised looks from the staff...

Kind of like cycling in snow though...

  • Ah sounds awful. Have you got a front mudguard with good coverage?

  • Guards, flaps, the works. Had to stop twice to clear ice and mud clog. Fun times. Thawed now.

  • Grim. This morning was forecast a shower at 5 and snow at 7 with a break inbetween. No problem.

In reality what I got was rain all the way from Chessington to Clapham where it then turned to snow. Then in central it was rain again and by stratford it was full on snow! Gloves iced over, jacket froze solid. Then it started settling on the road and I had to be all cautious and slow...
And once I got home I nearly killed myself on the steps, didn't realise I had 2"thick icebergs on the soles of my shoes 😭
Spirits were high though, was exciting for a one off!

  • One-off?! Bro do you even forecast??

    Good luck tomorrow everyone...!

  • Good luck everyone today. Working from home, so taking the pussy way out.

  • Ice, Ice baby.

  • I looked out the window and thought, “I wonder what @richardshill (et al) will post in an hour or two”

  • Bottled it. Borrowed the car to work.
