  • Cycled up the CS1 to meet a friend and stopped by the sainsburys near old street to check my phone, took my gloves off and with it must have dropped my watch, got just past the church when I noticed and zoomed back less than 15min later to find nothing. If anyone somehow found it, it's a black swatch with black face and black elastic metal band lost at 3:35pm, it was worth at most £60 new but has some sentimental value.

edit - like this one but with black hands

  • Lovely crisp ride to Euston this morning. 5 mins ahead of train. Train cancelled.

Great, and this was after checking train situation.

Currently on the overground snail train...

  • That was cold and sketchy and I rode like an utter coward. Journey took exactly the same time as when I go at it full promuter style.

    Highlights were
the cyclist trying to undertake me because I was riding wide to avoid ice
many cyclists riding no hands so they could keep them warm under their armpits
man in Gabba jacket and gym shorts -if you spend that much on a jacket ffs buy some leggings
Another chap, Lycra shorts to just above the knee, rugby socks pulled up, but turned over just below the knee

  • I'm out on the piss tonight so took the train again guilt free. Read more bike snob.

  • Last cycle commute 20th October.

    Back on it on Thursday.

    Fknfoot.

  • Absolutely bloody marvellous.

Chap at the lights near E&C with a Garmin said it was -3.

    Gosh I love this weather.

  • My Garmin recorded -4.5

  • Not bad actually, glad it didn't rain.

  • Lovely ride, took it easy, layered just right. Until the Lambeth Walk/Juxon St corner by Pimlico Plumbers where there was a double patch of ice and I came off - mashed the elbow and hip up. OTHER elbow and hip as the other one is mashed up from a tumble last week.

Spotted the first patch, trundled around it, but there was a second one lurking on the outside that got me. As I was fixing the bike, someone else came around the corner so I hollered to be careful as theres a double patch, she slowed down then slipped off in the exact same spot. As I helped her to her feet, she was glad I'd said and could slow down accordingly. Unhurt, luckily.

Arm hurt like fuck on the rest of the journey in - twitches in the hand. Leaving half hour early to be able to take it easy on the way back.

Boss - "most importantly.............how was the bike? Is it okay?". We got priorities here.

  • After yesterdays shit show of a ride in the rain, today may have been the nicest ride in I've had all year

  • Too many years of "I should buy some proper gloves - i'll wait and check out Black Friday - there all shit - i'll wait and check xmas sales - there all shit..."

  • Lost my gloves. took the bus.
    Always have a spare.
    bus wanker / 10

  • lovely ride. took foldy bike which is slow and upright as i have a 'thing' to go to later, kept me mostly out of trouble and just sat back enjoying the crispness of it all.

camera mount did a fail though:

  • Garmin told me -5.3C on the way in. Very sketchy on bits of Q1 and lots of people riding fast and oblivious. Didn't see anyone come off but it must've been happening.

  • What is your commute, out of interest? You’re in the SW right?

  • Putney to Bermondsey

    Or Upleadon to Gloucester

  • You are Lord Kelvin aicmfp

Add a magnet and you could levitate to work.

  • Cycled from Mortlake to Acton at 5:15am.

Only thing to gauge the temp for me what my face and mobile phone before I set off. -3 was on the screen

Headed Chiswick Bdge way and to Hogarth RAB, down Devonshire Rd, and towards Turnham Green Tube. That area was pretty treacherous.

Probably would have felt better non fixed to be fair, but it's my only ride.

  • Great ride, used the Tasmin trail to get around Richmond Park to avoid any black ice. Need to do that more. Garmin reading -6.6 C in the coldest corner of the park.

  • I had a couple of thoughts in my head this morning as I ascended anerley ridge.
    Mainly:
watch out for the ice at the top.
i hope there's noone behind me when i get there
    oh there is. how helpful.
time to descend down that non bike bike path.
    watch out for leaves.
    watch out for people.
    hmm. a group of people.
oh that looks like ice. can i take the grass verge?
    yes.
oh that person just slipped over.
i hope i don't slip over at the gate.
    i didn't.
    hooray.
    now college road.
    i hope they gritted.
    hmmm.
well there's some salt near the grate in the bike lane by the toll gate. that's helpful...
that and constant "stay wide of the kerb and manhole covers".

  • Many large snowballs in parks. One field by the Lea had a legion of snowmen standing in bright sunshine, awaiting their fate like a Californian cult.

  • All set to cycle then realised my eldest daughter has a school carol concert in Greenwich so gave me the perfect opportunity to drive and SUFFOCATE ALL YOU LOOSER CYCLISTS WITH MY PETROL FUMES.
    niceandwarm/10.
