Car lane lol

Pretty much for the same reason that I wouldn't expect any peds in the cycle lane, especially coming head-on.

At the Hyde Park Corner end it's open at the moment, some roads works I think. She would still need to cross onto the other side of the road to make it happen though...
-
• #17655
She was heading that way from the Albert Hall entrance. Proper confusing.
-
• #17656
Wha? I mean, there is a gap, but you would have to crawl through it to avoid mounting the rather high kerb. I've gone past confusion and on to impressed.
-
• #17657
Haha, yeah kinda impressive. Still confused now, but it sure woke me up riding towards her.
-
• #17658
Do you mean this cycle lane?

Tit driving a coach decides to near / punish pass me at speed coming down Westminster bridge. Decide to tell him he's driving dangerously when I catch him two seconds later at the lights and he refused to look at me, but did deem it suitable to stick his middle finger up. Really wish that driving dangerously and not giving a shit could cost him his job seeing as he does it for a living..
Ah well.
Did feel inclined to inflict some vigilante justice on his window using the Surly forks I had in my basket.. hehe wish I had the balls!!

Hit the emergency engine stop button. It really pisses off coach drivers.
-
• #17662
Is that in the same spot as on a bus?
-
• #17663
Generally in the back or the side of the vehicle.
-
• #17664
Yes!! I didn't know they had them, I will do that next time for sure... today would have been a perfect opportunity

• #17665
The thing is with smp style saddles with a cutout is that when the roads are wet and it's raining, water picked up from the road has an unimpeded spray right up into the nethers.
-
• #17666
No the one parallel that's by the road, south carriage drive. I go in by the French Embassy entrance and go up towards the Albert Hall.

Told a bus driver he was ridiculous after seeing him indicate left, pull right to overtake a cyclist and then immediately slam the brakes on in front of her for a bus stop on the A10 heading into Stokie. All in the wet, all completely pointless, unnecessary and dangerous. Didn't have the gopro on :(

Zen commute, listening to bedouin soundclash, waiting for asda to open to do gf's errands, get to uni to realise I've left my shoes at home. Safety boots it is today then!

I recently bought a super light (to me) single speed and have been using that constantly for the last three weeks. It looked like rain today so decided to ride in with my old, battered and neglected 12 speed Peugeot as it has mudguards/pannier rack etc. On my f**k it's heavy and slugish as shit; it felt like cycling through tar; and I was noticeably more tired and sweaty when I got to work! I can not believe I have commuted on that practically every day for nearly six years!

Think of the fitness gainz tho.

I did think of that haha. Seriously though I have to get it sorted for winter!

I was in the flow of traffic on Penton Street crossing Pentonville Road onto Claremont Square this morning and almost got taken out by a car turning right onto Pentonville Road from the opposite direction, being as he was a bit too fucking eager to get on his way. While I would normally be aiming to have a road position which allowed a better line of sight to oncoming vehicles when crossing a junction, at the very least riding primary, due to the nature of the traffic in the approach to the junction I had made the schoolboy error of using the cycle lane which meant that this chump did not have such a good line of sight and naturally assumed that not being able to see meant ok to proceed. I'm sure most people are aware of this hazard, but let this serve as a reminder.

That's such a stupid junction. Most cars turn left out of Penton St onto Pentonville Road, and the overwhelming majority of cyclists go straight on. Every cycle of the lights sees a massive line of cyclists on the left and drivers wanting to turn across them.
Don't go that way anymore, but I always filtered down the right and saved myself a ton of hassle.
-
• #17674
Yeah, I try and filter on the right every time, but the best positions to cross to the right on the approach were blocked and the lights were green, so I was less able to put myself in a good position.
As you say, stupid junction. -

'Commuted' to Swindon for a 10 o clock mtg. Tube tube train walk. In a suit. And some dozy cyclist on platform 3 Paddington pushed his bike into me...into my newly dry cleaned and pressed trousers. Left a scuff mark. I scowled. He just pushed off down the platform. Didn't even bother to give me the finger! Biking tomorrow. Safer.
If cyclists in the "car lane" are fine why can't joggers use the cycle lane?
