  • Ever since they changed the layout round E&C and St. George's Circus I have avoided them like the plague. I have no idea how I'm supposed to go across E&C any more. The roads feel less safe than they were before and the cycle lanes are impossible to work out.

  • 60km/h gusts - bring it onnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • Again my cycle lane was blocked it's getting worse lately. Waiting for FOI information on how many tickets actually get issued there between 0800-0930. My guess: Not many.

    Where is this?

  • Also how bad is tottenham court rd station goign to be once its all un fenced and pedistrians will just cross without looking?

Pedestrians cross without looking as it is.

  • Belfast, Narnia Ireland.

They've outsourced the parking enforcement from the local government (DRD) to a company. But DRD is ultimately responsible. There is only one lane so I've nowhere to go if the lane is blocked/cars are hanging out of their space which means I need to take the whole lane, queue close passes and the occasional proper cunt. It's rare, 99% of drivers are sound, but it's just not fun.

Some areas like the city centre are well "policed".
Some areas like Ravenhill Road are somewhat policed after much bitching and perhaps involvement of a local politician
My area is not policed and is getting worse as time goes on. The company said to the DRD they got there occasionally. If with that they mean once a blue moon then yes.

It doesn't help (no doubt London is the same) that bus companies and taxi companies can park wherever and not give a shit, why would residents not be able to park in an urban clear zone if they can do whatever they want.

  • Google street view?

  • Street View? In Belfast? You'd be lucky if the Google camera car gets 40 yards before being hijacked and burnt out halfway up Sandy Row.

  • Shush, the flags are proudly displayed on Sandy Row and the royal mail postbox is painted nicely with blue/white for the camera car ;)

Sandy Row is not actually that bad, it's slowly getting there but it's still tarred by a few loud idiots with paramilitary connections.

But as long as our elected idiots keep pandering to the paramilitaries nothing will change. They haven't gone away you know...

  • Both E&C and St. G's Circus are turds. Honestly, there's so much potential for decent sensible SAFE junctions and instead TFL seemed to be determined to make them stupid and completely over complicated.
The cycle lanes at E&C feel like they've been rolled by drunk people. They're so bumpy. And don't get me started on that ASL.
It NEEDS to be the size of all three lanes with an advance sequence to let bikes go first and a set of snipers to pick off mopeds that sit in the ASL box when it's not for them. Maybe some tyre spikes for the vape lord delivery drivers who always seem to have half their sodding vehicle in the ASL too.

  • what a tailwind last night!
paid for it this morning - still a gusty 20k/h headwind
    normal ride time 52mins
    today 1h01m
    and i'm fracking hungry!!!

  • Close passed by some fuckbucket in a lorry.

    Letters will be sent.

    Mark my words.

  • Just had an email saying they're closing Tower Bridge from 1st October til 30th December??... diverting all Northbound traffic to London Bridge. Oh joys, cos Tooley Street isn't already a total cluster

  • you will be able to walk your bike across tower bridge... Might help.

  • Yeah saw that, it might be an idea to do that, I'm up London Bridge end at the moment though and just the thought of all the diverted traffic trying to get across London Bridge at rush hour

  • Has anyone else encountered the guy who commutes over Blackfriars bridge with wraparound headphones singing at the top of his voice? What a loon!

  • Stopped at the lights on the embankment at about 6.15ish yesterday evening when big man on a mountain bike RLJ'd whilst pulling a beauty of a wheelie (Sagan esq) across the junction to the left. It was beautifully done with a nonchalant air.

  • Came across a motorcyclist about to lamp another motorcyclist last night.
    "DONTFUCKINGPASSPEOPLESSOCLOSEITSFUCKINGDANGEROUSILLKILLYOU"

  • Ironic that he should be so concerned about space.

  • This. Atterbury Street is the one by the Tate. Page Street can get blocked by the Warbuton's bread van about 08:00 but he soon turns off into the service road behind Marsham Street. He has to wait for them to unlock a gate.

  • Cuntnuggets on the road recently. This afternoon coming home no exception. Close pass by a boy racer, cos I shook my head he stopped in the road ahead, started a "UWOTMATE" and then I held the lane coming to the pedestrian crossing. He continued to rev up behind me, to the horror of onlookers, as he tried to cut me up on the inside of a roundabout before bottling it, shouting and going on his way.

30 seconds later I'm passed too close by a soccer mom.

  • Lots of van drivers giving it as all the cyclists go past through Walworth/London Bridge of late. Don't think they can handle being slow. Not sure how to retaliate...

  • Smile and wave. Smile and wave.

  • Maybe try speaking their language? 'Woooeeeeeeiiiyyyyy wankaaaaaa'
