Yep, so many of them RLJ-ing and generally just weaving all over the place without looking, creating chaos.

Also fair play to the dude WITH ONE LEG cycling on Belgrave Road past the passport office yesterday morning. He was on a Brompton (or other generic fold up bike), clipped in and bombing it as well! Whenever I don't feel as determined to cycle in, I'm going to remember that.

Don't understand the new system once you cross Westminster bridge if you are turning right to go down Parliament Street. Felt weird.
-
• #13080
It's like riding to work, but in a bus.
-
• #13081
A bus has been transformed into a mobile spinning studio
Only is some pretty shit CGI renders.
-
• #13082
Ahahahahahhaaha.
You couldn't make this shit up. Except someone has.
-
• #13083
Great that they've given the driver a set of spinning bike handlebars too.
-
• #13084
Surely this is cooler:
You could have a coffee machine installed for the route in and beers on the way home ;)
-
• #13085
Can't they power the bus from the spinning bikes, like this, but without the bar...
(EDIT. Damn too slow)
-
• #13086
It doesn't say so explicitly in the article (unless I've missed it), but presumably these things, if they ever make it into real life, would be powered by the bikes? I mean, it would seem absurd to put a diesel engine in it, but everything else about this idea is absurd and that doesn't seem to be putting them off.
Edit: Ha, also too slow to make the point about power.
Edit 2: Here's their Twitter feed. https://twitter.com/1Rebel_UK
In response to the 'Why not just cycle to work?' point:'But does cycling to work give you a 45min HIIT session with heavy beats and luxury changing rooms at the end?'
Can't argue with that...
-
• #13087
No, they're spinning on stationary bikes and being carried by a motor vehicle. It's fucking stupid. It's like swimming the channel using a P&O ferry swimming pool.
-
• #13088
Why scrap the bar. Setup seems perfect as is.
-
• #13089
There's a beer bike in Belfast...replace the beer with coffee and a breakfast roll and you buy eat breakfast while you cycle to work.

Cycling behind a car blaring TLC's "No Scrubs" last night round Seven Sisters/S. Tottenham. Most excellent way to end the ride home.
Oh yes sir, I'm talking to you/10
-
• #13091
Are they at least dynamos and the vehicle is electric?! That wouldn't be totally pointless...
-
• #13092
Here's a thought - would they be allowed to use the bus lane?
According to TfL, the bus lanes in London can be used by "Buses which have a minimum of 10 seats (including the driver)".
Do the saddles on the spin bikes count as seats?
-
• #13093
but what bars are those? needs risers etc
-
• #13094
Im just meaning bikes in general about that point. But at least Boris bikes have something.

• #13095
'But does cycling to work give you a 45min HIIT session with heavy beats and luxury changing rooms at the end?'
Nope, but my ride home does with the headphones on and a few Swains laps thrown in.

The gas works on the New King's Road (by Stanley Bridge) are getting on my nerves for my commute into London. Only another 5 months to go...
Luckily I only commute that way by bike once a week, and the return journey is nice and clear from Stanley Bridge past Parson's Green almost all the way to Putney Bridge. The short section of walking (from Lots Rd over Stanley Bridge) is a small price to pay for clear roads.

There's two ways to do it.
- Don't go in the bike lane and turn right like you used to
- Go in the bike lane up to Parliament Sq. Stay in the left-hand lane marked with a ↑. On green you then cross the square onto the pavement (stay with me here) where to your right (i.e. looking down Whitehall) you'll see a cycle traffic light. This then holds you for another phase (fun!) until it thinks that you're safe to be released.
- Don't go in the bike lane and turn right like you used to

I've been riding through that most days for the past few weeks. The novelty has worn off.
I'm going to start going through Hurlingham instead after grossing Putney bridge and cutting it off

I saw a chap this morning wearing running/rugby shorts.
Over his jeans.

supercommuter
he is trying to look like the superman of nodders, be thankful it was not his y fronts on top
Some pwopa nawty old school road rage with an Islington hard man and his skanky missus on the way home up the Holloway Road last night. Watch out for a loon driving a battered up old silver Volvo. He clearly hates cyclists, even more so now I'm afraid
