Pulled another glorious unintentional skid on Clapham High Street tonight to avoid getting flattened.
Should have been more aware of of the risk - the traffic ahead had stopped to let a van turn right but I hadn't clocked it. We both got quite a shock when I emerged from behind the car that had stopped to let him turn.
Still, 10/10 style points for the evasive manoeuvre.

Usual display of risky filtering on E&C this morning. Particularly dangerous moment when one cyclist got cut up by a scooter, and became so focussed on catching him up to have a go at him she put herself in the path of a fast-ish moving bus. Cue angry shouting by the bus driver and a smirk from the bloke on the scooter.
Very close to catastrophe brought on by being too caught up in getting angry and not being in the present. More zen required.

morning all,
Anyone know how to go about getting my hands on some cctv footage?
A bus decided to try and squish me this morning and I'm rather keen to try and get hold of some footage showing it as it was clearly deliberate. I was more concerned with not going under it than getting license number etc at the time...
Happened where Threadneedle St meets Bishopsgate about 8:30am? -

Would the bus company be obliged to hand over their own footage with an FOI request?
-
• #10083
I hadn't thought of that, I should pop up on the rear door camera being bounced off the side of the bus
edit > slight issue, I didn't catch the route number or operator... I guess City of London Police might have something -

FOI or a Subject Access Request which can be done to private companies - costs £10 but they should hand over all of your personal data, which includes cctv footage

FOI request
SAR under DPA, rather than FOIA request. Can be used to ask for footage from any cameras nearby.

This fucking guy standing in the middle of the road meant I came off my bike this morning.
Crossing Bishopsgate from Bevis Marks to London Wall - so many vehicles wanting to turn south onto Bishopsgate rush and cut up traffic with priority mean you really have to pay attention and I had the green light and I had checked for peds crossing on a red man but somehow missed this fucker and only stopped two feet short of him and went over my handlebars to his left. He was all 'Sorry, I didn't move! I didn't move!' I KNOW, YOU'RE STANDING STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ON A RED MOTHERFUCKER
People cross on the red man all the time so I didn't have a go at him, but I was/am fucking furious about being forced to cycle in the middle of three lanes of traffic hoping I don't get cut up by a lorry while I have right of way across a junction with 5 lanes of traffic in zone fucking 1. My eyes can only see so much and they must have missed this shitty prickcunt in his TM Lewin Black City Overcoat for Fuckwads who don't give a shit about whether or not people are OK but just alleviate themselves from responsibility at the first opportunity.
I hope you take on a crushingly huge mortgage in Wandsworth and then get the fucking sack and are then forced to move back home to work in a call centre in Swindon while you find your feet again.

Ok cool thanks guys, as I didn't get the number or operator of the bus I'm hoping I can ask TFL about the junction it happened at.
As it's quite a busy one hopefully they'll have a camera on it -

Harsh but fair.

This to some extent last night on CS7, a fellow cyclist light fell off their bike, he pulled over to the side I and a few others were about 40 meters away, he then steps out into the road to gather all the bits and pieces of his light, not once did he look up to see us coming or step out of the way. Lots of brakes squealing and dashing for space, 'but my light fell off' A1 dick

I don't know if I actually want this to happen but it felt good to write it out.

Train north straight after work so tubed it to work for the first time in at least 12 months.
It was as shit as expected, and that's after the rush hour. Am convinced every surface I was forced into contact with has covered me with the germs of the thousands of people who'd passed through before me. Also, people who stop immediately after the exit barriers to fanny around with their luggage are cunts.
The only good thing about the whole experience is the reminder of how fortunate I am to go through it so rarely.

This morning's commute was fine, it was this evening's one that turned decidedly duff when i arrived at the garage and realised I'd left my keys at work. Missus was out drinking, rents had mentioned they were going out tonight earlier in week so nothing for it but to ride all the way back to work to collect then home again. Took the scenic route on the 2nd homeward journey to break up the monotony.

Tube this morning. Headphone leak everywhere.

• #10096
^So true. Why do people fork out hundreds on a phone they barely know how to use and spend a tenner on shitty, leaky headphones?

Saw a rider on the deck this morning: http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/278347/#comment12654066 Anyone know if they're ok?
Sloppy.
At least take the front wheel too.
