  • So what is the format going to be?
Round robin would be awesome, only one more team than last year.

  • As long as there is time, RR.

Right now (with 14 teams), 10 minute games, and two courts. we're looking at 7.66 hours not taking swaps into account. Should be doable, but it's going to be a long day for everyone.

If more teams sign up, it will have to be Swiss.

  • Registration is closed no?

  • Is it? Meh.

Also, because it's a qualification (and not a tournament), we may be able to save time (and make RR more feasible) by dropping games that will have no effect on the outcome (i.e., once teams have clearly qualified and/or not qualified those games can be dropped). I just need to think about this a bit and figure out what the points would be with 14 teams.

  • 14 teams = 13 rounds of 7 games (Round Robin).

    91 games = 40.5 games over 2 courts = 8.1 hours (10 minute games with 2 minute swap/time-out addition).

10am start time means we'd be done by 6.10pm, we could even stop for lunch!

Registration is now closed, post below if you have a legitimate reason for signing up late. Tah.

  • Sweet!

But will one lunchbreak be enough for boozehound?

  • zing!

  • Asbo, you can stay at mine. How are you coming down? We have a parking spot if you need.

cheers dude, yeh were driving down so would be great if there is parking, should be arriving 10ish friday night, that ok with you?

  • Yeah, we'll work it out. Whoever is in charge of driving drop me a PM and I'll send over the address.

  • Can someone copy and paste the list (on phone), with more spots for refs.. 8 is not enough, its minimum.

  • Costs one ESB.

Yeah, I'm cool for the LHBPA to supply the funds for brooms if everyone else is? We need stiff-bristled brushes, preferably with wooden joins (glue and big screws, not plastic/metal bits and tiny screws), everything else seems to break...

The Leylands on Southwark road had a good selection, I can sort this Friday night and put them together at Ryan's workshop I reckon? Probably £90 for three good quality (wide) brooms, I can probably add it to the LO budget this year and re-use them for that?

  • £90 for brooms would be ok if we could guarantee they would last a year or two. But given how long previous brooms last, its seems a bit excessive.

The leaf blower would be a better idea. Cheaper and easier too.

The reason the other brooms didn't last, is cause they were cheap & hence poorly made. A leaf blower? Madness.

  • Leaf blower it is then. Not sure if I'll make it to the shops though and eBay isn't reliable time-wise?

Bill you'd look rad with a leaf blower, all the cool kids have them?

I'll ask Miranda if the court can be cleared this week, probably not.

  • Re. Running Costs - is there/should there be a team entry fee for the LQs??

  • leafblower FTW! probley not practical but could work!

  • Bristol used a leafblower to clear/clean their courts before last year's tourney and it did a very good job.

  • I could go to b&q this week sometime. But would it really blow rocks and twigs and glass?
