• Right then may as well post my experiences here.

The frame is a deng fu FM004 (http://dengfubikes.com/product.asp?id=11&classid=21) in 3k weave, ordered from ebay seller e_baygoods. Cost £250 inc p&p for frame fork and headset and I was charged £20 by customs. Took bang on two weeks to arrive, although I went and collected it from the local parcelforce depot rather than waiting the extra day to have it delivered after paying the customs charges.

Initial impressions are good, no visual defects, and it was very well packaged. Can't really say much more seeing as I've never owned a carbon bike before. Should have the build finished by the end of the week, so I'll report back with better impressions when I've ridden it.

Only other thing to note is that the forks are definitely different to the ones pictured in the ebay listing, however I actually prefer the ones sent so its not really an issue for me.

  • That's already looking rather nice.

    Did you weigh it?
And what bottle cages are those and are they any good?

  • Thanks! Not weighed it unfortunately seeing as I have no decent scales. Probably try and get a weight for the finished build at some point.

The cages are tacx uma, seem more solid and a tighter fit than the ones on my other bike which are tacx tao.

  • looks crap

  • kidding

  • ^^jealous because I got mine first!

  • Deng Fu sounds like something you'd need to take tablets for after an extended trip into the jungle.

    haha +1

  • I got my TT frame from Carbonzone on eBay who gets his frames from DengFu.
    Custom painted to my specifications.

So impressed by what I got from them that when my wife wanted a new frame this year it was a no-brainer who I went to for her new build.
Two weeks were spent fiddling around on Photoshop to get the paintwork as she wanted, and this is what then turned up in the post.

Not only does it look superb. It actually rides beautifully, and is a good match for any branded full carbon frame out there.........and it earned me a huge amount of brownie points from the wife!

If you can put down badge snobbery then there is no better value for money out there than the Chinese carbon frames.

  • saddles look daft.

  • I give up!
Look......the saddles work! Have you done a couple of 100 mile rides on your bike this year? We have, and got off after 100 miles without any problems in the nether regions, so if it works why the hell change it?

  • No numbness in the hands the shoulders or anything after following the wife for 6 hours so it works for us.
To be honest I'd prefer numb hands to numb balls.
We've struggled to get a kid into this world, and after a cancer scare (6 months of blood tests), miscarriages, three years of simply nothing, and even giving up cycling entirely, we find that those saddle angles work for us.

Daft or not I've done 220 miles in 13 hours at that saddle angle and the only problem I found was pain from my rebuilt right knee, and seriously worn out leg muscles

  • fair play. If it works for you, it works for you - everyone's got an opinion here - most of them read somewhere on the internet and just repeated verbatim.

Bikes look good by the way - I am toying with the idea of taking up TT at some point, would definitely consider one of those frames. Not so sure about the chinese carbon aero bars though - would make me very nervous.

No. I only ride my bike on the internet. That's why I'm able to comment on things with such gay abandon.

Thanks. I'm on the lookout for new cages. Tacx had problems with early cages of smilar shape but now these are used on cobbles by the pros I'm sure they're well sorted.

    Cheers Dan.

I'm not on the Chinese aerobars as I rely on my faithful (and very comfortable) Bontrager Race Lite XXX bars that I've had for ages, but I do know of a couple of people with the Chinese aerobars who can't fault them.
A fair number of the tester fraternity have got the deep section wheels and can't fault those either, so the Chinese are doing something right.

    But not politically eh kids?

    (try the veal)
    (tip your waitress)

  • those saddles are wrong.

UCI wouldnt have it, and they offend my eyes.

  • I still remember the first time I sang a hymen.

  • if it like that, surely it mean two thing - bar too long or saddle too high.

but then if it work for you (and yes it's very very annoying having us kept singing the same hymen!).

I wonder if it's possible to sing one's own?

  • maybe if it's still intact

  • Like a whistling kettle?

  • You mean like punching a virgin's ovaries to make it twang?

ok. that's not a disturbing sentence!

  • singed hymen? hot pussy?

  • Sicko's
