Yeah fair enough there is that!
But as far as I know it was a pretty common occurence, which of course doesn't excuse it.
I'd get a team of elite lawyers just incase

For the importer or the receiver?
For a person who causes a false declaration to be made. If LB write the wrong value on the declaration, that's their business, but if you ask them to do so you're committing an offence, and you're conveniently telling Customs & Excise where in the UK to come to arrest you🙂

I've had things arrive from china market as sample with very low value and still had to pay import tax, so I guess they do look them up sometimes.

Tax due on stuff is as a percentage of the declared value. If the value on the package seems plausible then they go with that most times but they can make their own decision on its value and charge you accordingly if they deem it too low.
AFAIK, IANAL -

From experience, sometimes you get away with tax, sometimes you don't. It seems that the larger the package, the more likely you are to have to pay. Saying that, I got away with one set of wheels and not another. Whatever, it will still be much cheaper than branded goods bought in the EU.

Is it the one e.g. 7261007161 that you've been using (that not actually mine, obvs)? I've just emailed them.

Nah it's a different one

Sorted, Koko got back to me straight away.
Mine says Monday too. I just have to resist the urge to order spokes based on the provided ERD now, and wait to measure myself. I'm sure if I can wait a month I can wait a few more days.

Not anymore was a promotion during April
About 6 years ago I ordered a frameset from Hong Fu or Deng fu, I forget which one.
But they were happy to declare the value very low. It was actually them who suggested that it be stated as being worth less than fifty dollars. They also explained that they could declare something as being a 'prototype sample' and it not really having any commercial value since it was a sample not to be sold.
Frameset arrived and I didn't pay any extra taxes on it.
Of course this was a good while back, I've not ordered anything substantial from china since then. I imagine things might have changed a bit since then.
But there's no harm asking LB to declare it as low as possible and to state that it's a sample product.
Ask them and let us know what they say...
